I ran through cobblestoned streets, my bare feet splashing through the puddles as the rain poured down on me. My breath came in ragged as I stumbled and almost fell but somehow I managed to keep my footing and continued onward, the sound of my pursuers behind me. I rounded a corner and hands grabbed my shirt yanking me sideways and into a building. I was tossed on the floor as I heard a door slam close. I shuffled backwards, eyes trying to adjust to the darkness when a hand clamped itself on my mouth. I mumbled and struggled against the hands holding me down but they were too strong. The sound of the mob that had been chasing me echoed around the small dark room and then faded as they ran onwards. When the sound had faded away a flash of light made me flinch as a flame floated in the air above my head and I could see my captor. Horns sprouted from a head of silver hair and a pair of black, spiny wings filled the space behind him. He looked down on me with emotionless silver eyes and I shivered as his eyes roved over my body.
"You developed the power much earlier this time which means your lives are shortening. Before too long you will have to pick a side, you are running out of time."
I got to my feet and brushed the wet strands of hair out of my face.
"I will not choose, I don't want to see either side suffer."
He moved forward and placed his hand on my cheek, a taloned claw rubbing over my bottom lip and I felt a small stinging sensation as he cut me. He pulled away and licked a drop of blood off his finger.
"So instead you suffer? Fool, monsters and exorcists will never coexist."
"Then how do I exist?"
His eyes flashed with rage and I felt a something slam into my stomach. I looked down in shock to see an edge of his wing sticking inside of me, red soaking my clothes. He pulled his wing back and I fell to my knees, hands clutched to my gut in an effort to staunch the blood now pouring out.
"Tetsuya!"
The door slammed open and I was pulled into a pair of arms as soft black wings curled around my form.
"How many more times do you think you can do this? Isn't it painful?"
With that the silver haired man walked out into the rain and the arms holding me rocked my body back and forth.
"Please not again, I just found you. Don't leave me Tetsuya. Tetsuya. Tetsuya."
"Kuroko!"
I opened my eyes as hands rocked me awake and I blinked up into a pair of green eyes set behind glasses. He pulled back and I sat up, looking around me to see I was lying on a bed in a room I didn't recognize. I turned back to the man who had woken me up and he shimmered in front of me to show long green hair and scales along his bottom half.
"You're a demon too."
He pushed his glasses up on his nose and raised an eye brow.
"You can tell? Is it a feeling?"
"No I can see it. Are you some sort of fish demon or a mermaid?"
"Merman please, as you can see I am no maid. Interesting. You can tell that much now?"
He moved forward and I stayed still as he turned my face left and right and then grabbed a small torch and checked my eyes.
"Umm, who are you? And where is Sei- I mean Akashi?"
"He is Midorima, one of my most trusted advisors."
We both looked up to see Akashi leaning against the door frame, his arms crossed over his chest. He still wore the clothes from the dance but his tie was off and his sleeves were rolled up. He moved forward and picked up my hand where it rested on the bed beside me and I saw Midorima in the corner of my eye slowly slip out of the room.
