We teleported into the main chamber and looked around. The villagers had already been sent along first and I could see that they were already gone. The three exorcists we had managed to save were ushered away to be treated and I glanced at the leader who nodded his head. They would hold their tongue about what they had witnessed. I gave a sigh of relief and glanced at Kagami who was blinking as he looked around the room and rubbed his eyes.
"What's with all this light?" He grumbled and Momoi glanced around, her eyes wide with surprise.
"Kagami why don't you take Kuroko back to Akashi and have a shower to get cleaned up."
She waved away the medical priests who came over to us, seeing the blood on Kagami's clothes.
"We aren't injured, that's not his blood."
Mitobe moved forward, slightly shielding Kagami from view as the medics shrugged and headed away.
"I should give my report. Seriously you guys aren't bothered from all of these flickering lights?"
"You probably just bumped your head. Off you go we will take care of the report. Besides Kuroko looks a little shaken up, you should look after him."
I took the hint from her words and tried to look troubled and weak. It wasn't hard to do, I was shaking with what had happened and how much power I had used. Kagami moved forward and put an arm around my waist, supporting me.
"Sorry I didn't notice Kuroko, let's get you to your room."
I murmured a thank you, feeling guilty about tricking him but let him lead me away. When we reached the room I shared with Akashi I ushered him in first. I closed the door after him as he walked into the room and sat at the table next to Akashi, confusion on his face as he blinked his eyes again as he stared at Akashi as if seeing him for the first time. Akashi looked over at me a question in his eyes but I held a finger to my lips. I called up my power and placed a barrier around the room, now nobody could hear a word that was said.
"Will you tell us what has you looking so pale?"
Kagami stripped off his shirt which was crusty with dried blood and I recalled what had happened, my heart thumping painfully in my chest.
"I have a lot to talk about but first is that Haizaki was part of the force that attacked us tonight."
Akashi stood up, his eyes wide with shock and he rushed over to me, checking me over for injuries. His eyes took in my shredded shirt and the spots of blood over me.
"Did he touch you? Did he hurt you?"
I felt my hands trembled at the memory and buried my face into Akashi's chest, letting him soothe me.
"A little bit," I admitted.
"But I was saved, by my father."
Akashi pulled back and I saw him pull his emotionless mask over his face.
"Your father came? Are you sure it was him?"
"It's hard to not recognize the phoenix when he comes to your aide, he has the same eyes as me, but you already knew that didn't you?"
I saw a flash of surprise cross his face before he pulled his mask back in place. He opened his mouth but I held up a hand.
"I don't know your reasons for not telling me about my father. To be honest you never lied to me, you never said yourself that you didn't know about him. Do the others know?"
He sighed and sat down on the chair, his head in his hands.
"No. They knew you were a child of a high ranking demon in the winged clan but not the specifics. I am sorry Kuroko, I was forbidden from telling you about him. Call it a vow or a curse but I cannot tell you about your first life, you need to remember it yourself. Similar to the rune the exorcists have used on me, if I were to break that vow I would suffer intense pain."
