April's POV

4:00 A.M.

My first mission is today. I have no idea how the hell I'm going to cope.

I followed Natela and Delilah back into the bedroom to get ready. Apparently there's a "procedure" that we have to go through to prepare for a mission. First we all had to take showers and wash and dry our hair. One of the number one rules for Mission Dress Code was to ALWAYS put your hair up.

Natela, of course, had to go do some elaborate braided bun on the top of her head.

Fancy gorgeous bitch. I can't do shit with my hair.

Like Delilah, I pulled my hair into a ponytail. We wore stretchy, waterproof, durable clothing. It's always best to wear black.

I pulled on black, shiny legging-type pants and a long sleeved v-neck. Natela helped me clip on a black belt that had a holster for a gun and some pockets for other things. Once we were all ready we walked outside and I realized that we were still in the mountains, miles from civilization.

"How do we get there?" I asked Harry, who had walked up next to me.

"Wait." Was all he said in reply. I looked at the ground and kicked at a pine cone.

"About thirty minutes." Niall's voice piped up. I looked up to see him ending a phone call. I groaned.

"Take a last look every one this is the last time we'll be here." Niall called to us.

Oh man, earlier I was so ready to get out of this hell hole but now... I feel like something is incomplete...

The house.

Jared's house. I was crazy as hell for thinking it but that was the missing piece.

"I have one more place to go. Harry, will you come with me?" I squeak.

His eyes widen. He grabbed my wrist and held me back.

"You're not going."

I wrenched my arm away.

"Harry I have to!"

"Why! Why do you have to, it will only hurt you!"

"It just feels right okay!"

"Why is it tha-"

I inhale and speak quietly.

"Harry I have to go and pay tribute. To the good memories. The laughs, the alcohol free nights in bed. And also for him being a bitch, because I finally learned to trust myself."

I turned and walked into the woods.

I could feel his eyes burning into my back, but the crunch of leaves under his feet told me he was following me.

I followed a familiar path until I saw the structure of our cabin. HIS cabin.

My knees weakens and my breath caught in my throat as I walked towards the door. Harry remained silent but I knew he was curious. The door creaked open and I stepped inside. I reached for the light when a hand stopped me. Harry shook his head no.

I walked into the doorway and sent him a panicked look that he immediately understood.

-This is where I killed him-

But

The body was gone. Only one thing remained:

A small piece of coroners tape.

That meant that my time was up. The government was after me.

And I think Harry understoond that.

"Its gonna be alright. Come on. Lets go before someone comes around here." Harry said, pulling on my arm.

"Okay." was all I managed to squeak out.

We started walking out of the cabin. Once we stepped out, Harry pulled me back in.

"What are y-" he cut me off.

"Shhhh. Someone's coming this way. Is there another way out?"

My heart started pounding. "Yeah there's a back door," I whispered. "This way."

We fast walk to the back door, trying to be as quiet and fast as we can. When we stepped outside, we ran towards the mountain.

"Next time listen to me." Harry said beside me. I nod in response. He lead me to some bushes and crouched down among them, close enough to the edge to have a view of the cabin. As a bird began its song, he motioned for me to be quiet and listen.

"That", he told me, "is the warning call of the thrasher. If you hear that call, always trust it and run. That is the only way to escape an ambush in time to live." I look in amazement up into the trees, trying to spot the bird. I noticed him move on to something else as he examined the ground.

"Feel the dirt. Is it moist?" He asked. I furrowed my brow in confusion and picked up a hand full of soil, letting it sift through my fingers.

"Just a bit. It should be dry in an hour or two." I reply.

He nodded.

"Then there will not be foot prints in the earth. If the soil is wet, always check for prints." He advised.

Well ok then.

"We should head back now, it's almost been thirty minutes." I tell him, looking up at the sky. The sun was just beginning to rise, painting the sky with a vibrant orange and purple and a soft pink. I squinted my eyes against the sun peeking through the clouds.

Harry stood and dusted off his jeans. He extended his hand and helped me up and we walked back to the others. As Harry explained what happened, I shivered, thinking of the people that could be lurking in these woods, hunting for us as we spoke. Finally, a soft whir was heard, growing louder and louder and coming closer until it was practically on top of us. Slowly, a helicopter landed in the clearing. Louis, Delilah, Niall, Natela, and Harry all climbed aboard. I hesitated for a bit before jumping on.

Harry pulled me into the cockpit and I came face to face with a gorgeous brown eyed lad.

"April, meet Liam. Liam, this is April." Harry introduced us. I waved shyly. He grinned.

"Hi April, take a seat. Lift off can r a little jerky." He said.

I turned and followed Harry to the back and sat next to him, folding my hands in my lap and watching as the only home I can remember faded away into the morning fog.
