Thirty Seven: Magical Savages

Harry's POV:

Anita had trusted me to stay in my chambers and left hours ago. However, she enchanted my doors so I couldn't leave even if I wanted to. The sun had set and I just looked at the stars from my window. I had loads to think about. I thought about Elle mostly. I wondered what she could be doing. I wondered if she had noticed that Peter and I were gone. I thought about what Anita said. She said Elle was very powerful, which I already knew. What scared me was, Elle knew it too. She knew it better than anyone. She spoke to me about this fear. That's why she was seeking help from Eric. What Anita was saying made sense. I couldn't neglect to acknowledge that.

But if Elle continues getting help from actual wizards, like Eric, I shouldn't be worried.

It really pained me to think that.

Interrupting my thoughts, my father came into my room.

"Why would a King want anything to do with his treacherous son?"

"You are in no position to mock me, Harry."

I just sat staring out at the night.

"Harry, I just can't seem to figure out why in the world you would seek such company from that girl. Are you aware of what her kind has done?"

"Yes, father. I am also aware of what our kind has done to them."

"That is minuscule compared to their crimes! Your mother-"

"Do not talk about her!" I demanded as I turned to face him.

"Why? Does it remind you of your anger and sadness? Those savages took away your mother and my queen!"

"If you thought they were savages then why have you never told me about them?"

"Because I thought I had gotten rid of them! I hoped by the time you were crowned king you wouldn't have to deal with this problem!"

"What aren't you telling me?" I asked. "There is more to this story then just mother."

His whole defensive expression dropped.

"Go on!" I demanded.

He looked to the floor. "It's a really long story, son."

"We've all night."

He sighed. "Take a seat."
