3 Years Later

Years had passed and I had banished Phillip and Isabel, along with their people, from this land. Word had quickly gotten out that I was attacked by a wizard and soon my kingdom was divided. People lived in fear, both regular people and magical people alike. My people feared that they were also going to be attacked by a witch or wizard, and the magical people were afraid they were going to be persecuted for their abilities. As a king, I had to make the decision to separate the two so I could appease the masses.

The decision was to remove those of magic from the land within Lathance's boarders. This decision was inspired by my past when I found the wizard's festival in the woods. Yes, technically that was still a part of my kingdom but it was far enough away that my people wouldn't have to live in fear. Gates were built all around the village and everyone coming in and out were regulated. I could've had the magical beings executed for treachery since they do not consider me their king. From my understanding, they look at Phillip as their only leader. However, I felt that exiling their kind was a proper decision to fit their crime.

There were many protests to this decision and many of the magical people were not happy about it. Phillip had attempted to reason with me but my guards made sure he came nowhere near my castle.

Ever since that decision came to pass tensions within the boarders have dropped tremendously. Recently, however, there have been reports of people seeing a person of magic. Some say that these beings have been burglarizing shops or taking livestock from farms. We have yet to catch anyone in the act but I have sent guards out in the night to keep a lookout.

"Haven't we done enough by banishing these people from the only home they've known?" One councilmen argued.

These sightings have been such a popular topic, that the royal council have had no choice but to discuss the matter.

"Pardon me, but by the sound of your argument you leave me to believe you are advocating for them... Do you know something that we don't? Are you in contact with them? Or maybe-- you are one!" Edgar, my head councilmen, accused. Edgar was totally on board with the removal of the magical kind. He despised them for more than their thievery. Phillip's attack on me was just fuel to his fire.

"You know I am not, Edgar. I just don't think it's justifiable to strip a person--magical or not--from their home as a result of one wizard's actions!"

"So let me ask you this--" I spoke. "Do you think it was justifiable for that wizard to have attacked me?" I asked.

"Well--uh... No..." He stuttered.

"And do you think it would have been better if we just-- killed every witch and wizard instead of sending them to another home?" I asked.

"...No." He said lowering his head.

"Well then! I think we've settled that." I said.

Edgar wore a grimacing smirk.

"Now, my royal council! What shall we do about the appearances of these magical folk?"

"Execute them for burglary!"

"We'd have to catch one first!"

"I say we put them in the dungeons for trespassing!"

"How can one trespass if this was their home to begin with?" A woman asked after bursting through the doors. My knights immediately drew their weapons and she was apprehended.
