It was 3:45 am when Tricia came from her room. Vladimir was holding a sleeping Victoria and looked up to Tricia. She completely ignored him and walked down the hall. He lifted his niece with ease and quickly placed her into Tricia's bed and rushed out to follow Tricia.
"I'm sorry ok?" Tricia yanked her hand from his as he tried to hold it. "Can we at least talk please?" Tricia stopped moving and back handed him across the face. "Talk about what exactly?!" She growled and he took a step back. He hadn't ever made Sarah this mad before.
"That's what I thought." She'd snarl and go to the kitchen. Vladimir sighed and watched her walk. Looking around before following her.
He noticed her scent had changed, and wondered what was going on.
He found her in the kitchen, standing in the door to the fridge. He sighed. "Look I'm really sorry. I've been so preoccupied by everything I've kind of left you out. How about we... Me and you... Brave the cold later and go get breakfast in town. I know of one place that stays open on Christmas Eve." He'd say in his best apologetic tone. Touching her shoulder.
When she turned around she had a piece of steak from the night before. Eating at it. "I forgot I didn't have dinner don't judge." She snarled at him and he shrugged. "Didn't answer me, I got worried." He'd say taking a piece and popping it into his mouth.
She sighed watching him. "Look, I'm the one who should apologize not you. It was a family dispute and I should have just walked away." Vladimir blinked at her, tilting his head. She sat at the table with a tub of ice cream and began eating it.
Vladimir sitting beside her watched her. "Vincent loved Sarah. I guess he hoped he'd have a chance with you. You're the closest person to her." Tricia sighed and sit her spoon back in the ice cream. "But I'm not her. I'll never be her." "I know.." Vladimir got cut off from a glare. "Then why on earth do you all act like I'm her? You've witnessed it yourself. I'm nothing like her." Tricia began to tear up some. Vladimir touched her cheek gently and frowned. "For what it's worth I'm sorry. If I may be blunt, you are much prettier than her." He leaned towards her and pecked her lips gently.
She sighed pulling back. "So... Breakfast in town to make up?" She asked eyeing him. He smiled and nodded. "Just us." He agreed and stood taking her hand and leading her to bed.
The two curled up in bed together, he held her close and the two quickly fell asleep.
--
A few hours passed and Vladimir felt a weight land on the bed. Opening his right eye and looking at who disturbed them. Victoria smiled and giggled quietly. "Is miss Tricia asleep?" He nodded gently to not wake her. "It's Christmas Eve uncle..." She smiled big as Vladimir sighed.
It was the Christmas Eve ball that Sarah was killed. How could he forget.
Instinctively he pulled Tricia closer and heard her grunt slightly and she pulled back. "Victoria... Get off my feet please?" Tricia wiggled her toes and made Victoria jump up. "Come on! Daddy has breakfast!" With that she ran from the room. Vladimir turned and looked at his clock. 9:30. He sighed. "I promised you a private breakfast just us." He purred and she nodded. "Let's sneak out then." She giggled and kissed his lips softly. Going to her room to change cloths.
The two met in the hallway and Vladimir took her hand and lead her to the front doors. "You two aren't sneaking off to have sex are you?" Came victor's voice behind the two. Vladimir snarled "Sorry Victor. Vladimir promised me a privet breakfast. Just us." Victor furrowed his brow as his older brother smirked at her words. "Fiiiiine I'm sure Vincent will eat it all anyways." Victor turned and the two hurried out to the town.
It was quiet but beautiful with the snow. Everything in the village was old. The snow, like makeup, enhanced the architecture around the two.
Vladimir lead her to the little restaurant. The smells of fresh cooked soup and bacon filled the restaurant. There were others there, they watched the two enter. Tricia got the weird feeling she wasn't supposed to be there.
Vladimir sat at a booth and she slid in across from him. "I've never noticed your hair curl like that?" Vladimir reached across and touched a curl in her hair. "Only when the air is moist." She giggled and smiled at him.
A waiter came over and took their orders. Vladimir bluntly ordered a glass of blood, and Tricia a sweet tea. The waiter nodded politely and left to fill the drinks.
"Is this a vampire restaurant?" She whispered nervously and Vladimir nodded. "Yes. But none here will touch you. I marked you when I fed from you apparently. According to Vanessa anyways." He snarled at her name and Tricia took a deep breath in. She dared to peek behind him to see some glares from the others there. "Pay no mind to them, my dear." He smiled warmly as the waiter brought their drinks over. A waitress followed behind him and set their orders on the table.
Vladimir and Tricia ate in silence. The whispers could be heard. After the two are Vladimir paid the restaurant and sent Tricia outside for a moment. "You all are on my last nerve. I'd expect more respect for me and my dear love. From now on is that understood?!" He bared his fangs but got nothing except nodding from everyone. He walked out the door and picked at his teeth with a tooth pick.
"What was that all about?" Tricia asked looping her arm with his. He smiled and kissed her very cold fingers. "They were whispering about you looking like Sarah. I simply told them next time more respect is expected." Tricia would have been pink from blushing but the cold kept her cheeks rosey.
Vladimir took her shopping and walked the town with her until he noticed the cold was bothering her. "I forget you need warmth." He joked and Tricia laughed slightly. "Shall we return to the castle?" She asked with a smile. Her normally peach skinned nose was a furious red in color from the cold.
Vladimir nodded and as if having already been called, a limo pulled up. The two got in and rode to the castle.
