Chapter 21

The previous day for the three girls was a bit dramatic. Sam had to mourn for her mom's death. Alex was beyond happy of the fact that Toby and her are together. Sam was confused and sad. She wanted to tell Riley but was too afraid.

The following day, Sam woke up feeling really tires and sore. She never did stop crying. It was too painful for her not to cry. She got up from her bed and looked at her reflection on the mirror. She looked really tired from all the crying she did last night. She looked really ugly. Her hair was sticking out in different directions. Her nose was still red, as well as her eyes, which right now have a really huge bag under. She went to the bathroom and took a refreshing warm shower.

Meanwhile, Alex just woke up. She had a huge grin plastered on her face s she recall the event from last night. She still can't believe that she's Toby's girl. She looked at the bathroom door and concludes that Sam was using it. While waiting for her best friend to finish, she grabs some clothes in her cabinet to wear for the day. She thought to wear nothing fancy just to impress Toby. It's best she just wear something simple and something that screams 'Alex' than 'SLUT', right?

Sam comes out of the bathroom all dressed and ready to face the day.

"Hey." Alex greeted.

"Hey." Sam responded.

Once hearing Sam's simply reply, Alex remembered something. Something that she has been wondering the moment she saw Sam crying with Connor.

She immediately enters the bathroom and took a really quick shower, eager to talk to Sam and get her talking. Once she was done, she came out all dressed but her hair was wrapped with a towel to let the towel absorb the water from her hair.

"Sam, can I ask you a question?" Alex asked as she sat beside Sam who was braiding her hair.

"What is it?" Sam said as she tied elastic to secure her braid.

"Where were you yesterday?"

"Just out by the lake." She simple replied.

"Ohh. Ok." Alex mumbled. Not satisfied of Sam's reply, she said. "If you need to tell me something, don't hesitate in telling me. I'm your best friend, Sam. You could tell me anything." She finished.

"Ok. I will." Sam said in a low tone before she hugged her best friend. Alex was taken aback by her action but didn't mind, she just hug her back. "We should go now. I think they're waiting for both of us right now."

"Oh yeah. Let's!" Alex agreed.

They pulled away from the hug and exit the cabin. Alex links her arm with Sam and they walked to the boy's cabin side by side.

Alex was thinking thoroughly about what was Sam hiding from her. But she's not forcing Sam to tell her about it there and then. She has to wait until Sam is ready to tell her.

They got to the boys cabin. They knocked on the door and Connor opened it, the one that usually opens the door. Alex saw the sparkle in Connor's blue eyes when his gaze landed on Sam. Sam gave Connor a weak smile that Alex noticed, as well.

"Hi." Sam said in a faint tone.

"Hey." Alex stated after Sam.

"Hey. Come in. we've been waiting for both of you." Connor remarked.

"Sorry, if we kept you waiting." Alex apologized and Sam nod with a really timid smile.

They got in the cabin and saw that their team mates seated in the living room. Some on the couch while the others on floor.
