Chapter 6

I woke up to Cory jumping on me like a six year old. I groaned frustratedly and looked at my clock. He woke me up five minutes early!

"What is wrong with you!?" I shouted. He laughed as he backed out of my room. I sighed and got out of my bed, turning off my alarm. I got ready for school and made my way down stairs to get my lunch ready.

Just as I finished making my sandwich there was a faint knock on the door.

"I'll get it." Cory said as he unlocked the door. I heard a faint conversation until Cory called me over. I walked to the front door and gasped as I saw Kyle standing casually in the door way.

"What are you doing here?" I demanded. He shrugged "I thought I could walk you to school."

Cory tensed slightly. What was his problem?

"Fine, but no jokes." I said. Kyle grinned in achievement and turned so I could walk out. I quickly grabbed my bags and walked out of my house.

"See ya!" I called behind me as I locked the door.

"OK, what do you really want?" I asked, raising my eyebrow. He stopped and looked me in the eyes.

"Can't I walk you to school?" He questioned, a little hurt. I felt a little guilty for asking him that. What was wrong with him walking me to school?

I walked into the school building, Kyle close to my side. A bit to close. We went straight to class as the irritating bell rang, echoing through the school grounds. We sat in our chairs and waited for Mr. Ross to come in and teach us our maths lesson. I hated maths, I hated it with passion. Mr. Ross always picked on me to answer the questions (of which I almost never knew the answer to) just because he hated my brother.

When Cory went here he was most known for getting into fights with the students and teachers. He once threw a ball at Mrs. Peters, our P.E teacher, because he didn't want to play badminton.

Mr. Ross walked into the noisy class and demanded silence as he wrote the questions onto the white board, his blue pen squeaking as he wrote.

"Jade, what is the answer to this equation?" He asked me without so much as turning round. I sighed frustratedly and rolled my eyes. I looked at the equation on the board. Kyle nudged my in the side with his elbow. I glared at him until he whispered "15.223."

"Is it 15.223?" I called out to Mr. Ross. He looked at me in total disbelief. I grinned and flicked my hair behind my shoulder. Kyle giggled but stopped when Mr. Ross gave him one of his famous death glares.

The rest of the lessons went by quickly and before I knew it, it was lunch. I sat on the bench as usual and opened up my lunch box.

"Hey, can I sit with you?" Kyle asked from behind me. I was about to punch him out of reflex again but he caught my fist.

"Ha!" He said proudly as he let go of my fist and sat on the spare space of the bench.

A bunch of girls walked over to Kyle and flirted with him. One of them, Kitty, gripped his knees and did a wave motion. I bit my lip to stop myself from laughing at how ridiculous all this was.

Finally the girls left Kyle alone when they finally discovered he wasn't interested. I put my lunch box back into my bag and talked to Kyle as he finished his. He must work out a lot because he eats way too much.

Kyle walked with me home again. We spoke a bit more than usual but it was still slightly awkward. I waved good bye as he stopped at his house.

The moment I stepped through my front door the moment Cory  bombarded me with questions about Kyle. I ignored all of them and went to my room.

"We will talk about this!" He shouted as I closed my door. I giggled and pulled on my tank top and jogging bottoms.

"I'm going for a jog in the woods." I informed Cory as I escaped out of the back door. The breeze was picking up slightly but I was still determined to see my wolf. I started off jogging until I got further into the woods. I sat on a log and waited for my wolf to turn up again. I didn't have to wait as long as last time. He was in front of me like a shadow. I stood up slowly, holding my hand out again. He didn't hesitate this time and my hand made contact with his heavenly fur. I looked into his eyes, they were the same chocolaty brown as ever and they still held the mischievous look behind them.

A loud crack of a twig echoed through the woods. My wolf flinched and backed away quickly and disappeared. I turned around angrily and spotted Cory emerging from the tree's.

"What are you doing here?" I demanded, crossing my arms.

"I could ask you the same question." He said, mimicking my actions.

"I told you I was going for a jog!" I cried as I flung my hands into the air.

"It didn't look like you were jogging." He said quietly. Did he see me with my wolf?

"What do you mean?" I asked, trying my best to mask my nervousness.

"Jade, I saw you with that wolf! What do you think you were doing? Does dad know?" He interrogated. My heart stopped beating and goose bumps appeared on my arms.

"I - I don't know what you are talking about." I murmured. He sighed angrily and grabbed my arms and shook me slightly.

"I know what I saw and I don't like it. You need to stop going to these woods.! He yelled. My stomach started to hurt as I felt scared. Like it usually does when I feel scared.

"I'm sorry." I whispered, looking at my feet. He sighed and pulled me into a hug, his body heat making me feel warm and safe.

"Come on, you know that is dangerous. That is a big wolf too, you don't know what it could do. It could k-" I cut him off before he could carry on.

"He won't hurt me, he's different." I defended.

We walked home in silence, not bothering to mention anything. Damn my over protective brother!

I walked straight into my room when I got back. I didn't feel like drawing or painting so I just sat on my bed and looked out my window. It began to rain and that only made things worse. The rain drops trickled down the window, some stayed where they were. The gentle tapping of the droplets sounded calming.

My eyes became heavy and I was about to sleep when I saw a thick figure amongst the rain. My eyes snapped wide and I squinted my eyes to see my wolf through the rain covered window...
