Chapter 12
Monday
I walked to school, the wind gently tousling my hair. My lips dry and cracked. I hadn't gotten much sleep either last night. I was too busy thinking over what might come in about two months. Faint bags underlined my once bright eyes. Too many questions and so little information.
One thing I was planning on doing today was confronting Kyle. Cory has no control over my friends or, most importatnly, me.
I entered the school gates just as the bell rang for class. Luckily I have art so today may have a good start...
I sat in my usual seat, by the window and waited for Miss. Mala to come in. Kyle had already taken a seat before I got there so I still had time to talk to him.
"Hey." I started, offering a small smile. He returned it happily and we just looked into each other's eyes.
After about five minutes of staring intentley into each other's eyes and still no sign of Miss. Mala, I thought now would be a good time to talk.
"I'm really sorry about Saturday. I've spoken to my brother and there are a few things I would like to talk to you about later." I said, turning my concentration onto my hands which were fiddling about with each other.
I heard Kyle take a breath as he was about to reply but we were intercepted by Kitty.
"Hey handsome. You weren't talking to that... thing there were you?" She asked, sneering at me, then looking flirtatiously at Kyle through her spidery eyelashes.
I watched as Kyle tensed at her unkind words and he look pretty angry to say the least. I put a comforting hand on Kyle's arm, pleading for him to calm down. There's no point getting annoyed over something a slutty girl had to say.
Kyle took in a deep breath and responded to Kitty. "Yes actually. And her name is Jade. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to talk to her." He said, turning back to me. Kitty gave us both a glare before going back to her table.
"Thanks." I whispered gratefully. He smiled at me and replied with "You're welcome."
Seconds later, Miss. Mala walked in, her hair was rather frizzy. Possibly from the wind blowing at it. Her usually perky smile looked fake and plastered on.
"Sorry I'm late kids. I was busy preparing our project." She began and went on to explaining what our project was.

The first few lessons were very quick and now it was lunch. The busiest and longest break of the day. Many were queuing up for the canteen whilst others messed about with their friends.
I sat on the usual bench and waited for Kyle to turn up. We had agreed to meet up here in art before we parted ways for our next lessons.
I sat patiently, my arms crossed.
"Boo!" I heard in my ear, I practically jumped out of my skin and readied my fist to punch the person behind me, but I managed to stop myself just in time.
"You really shouldn't do that!" I exclaimed, throwing my hands into the air as Kyle made his way slowly to the empty place next to me.
"Hello to you too." He said with an annoyingly cheeky wink.
"what do ya' wanna talk about then?" He asked, leaning back against the hard wood.
I took in a deep breath as butterflies formed in my stomach. I was about to tell Kyle what I had found out and even though I had been dying to tell him, I am still slightly nervous...
Kyle's POV
I stared at Jade as she sucked in a deep breath. I could sense her nervousness. I looked into her beautiful green eyes as she looked into mine.
"I know everything." She said. It took me a few seconds to suss out what she meant. She knows we are mates!?
"Y-you do?" I asked, completely dumbfounded. "Who told you?"
"Cory. He said it will officially happen on my seventeenth birthday. He said it is possible it won't happen. I'm scared though... My life will change forever. I don't know how it is possible, but it is." She confessed.
I looked at her with confusion. There is nothing to be scared about! She is my mate, I will never let anything happen to her.
But... by the way she is telling me this, something inside is saying she doesn't know. My heart turned cold and I furrowed my eye brows in confusion.
"Could you quickly just tell me what you know?" I asked, wanting to clear up my question.
"Um, OK... I know I might become a werewolf in two months on my birthday and... it is possible it won't happen." She said as if it was no big deal.
"Is that it?" I pushed, my heart cracking.
"Yep!" She said, popping the 'p'.
That did it. Mt heart had officially been broken. How could she not know we are mates? She felt the sparks when we touched, the way she looks into my eyes shows something more than love, the way she knew how to calm me down in art... How can she still not know!
I darted off of the bench and quickly walked to the woods. I had to run. I had to clear my mind before someone got hurt.
Jade's POV
I watched in confusion and hurt as Kyle ran off into the direction the the woods near the field. If anything I would of thought he would comfort me. Tell me everything would be OK. But no, he ran. I don't know why, but he ran. I thought over our conversation, scanning everything I said to see if I had said something to offend him.
My heart began to break as I watched him disapear into the distance. My stomach began hurting more than ever as I limped with my crutches towards the school gates. I needed to go home and think. Tears began to slowly make their way out of my eyes as I exited the school grounds
