Chapter 22
Sunday lunch. Excitement building, yet so is my fear. The beginning or the end of my new life as a wolf.
I'm eating a turkey sandwich watching a load of television. Everyone is at the beach setting everything up, like they had been since this morning. I wasn't sure why they chose to leave so early, it's not like there is going to be a massive celebration. At least, I think there isn't.
A taxi will be coming at around nine O'clock and every passing moment was becoming more and more painful. Butterflies flew around in my stomach, my heart beating faster than normal. As excited as I was about my party, the fact that I will see Kyle soon was ever more exhilarating. I hadn't spent this much time away from him before, and it was killing me. Every movement would have my head whipping about to see if it's him. It may seem a little sad, but I can't exactly help it, can I?
I had yet to pick out an outfit for my party. It's pretty hot today and hopefully the weather will be no different on the beach. I might wear some short shorts and a tank top, or a little dress. I shall have to sort that out later.

7:45 pm. Time is running out, the taxi will be here in less than two hours. I make sure the house is decent looking, before going upstairs to scavenge through my wardrobe.
There aren't many dresses or shorts in here, but the ones I do have are really nice looking.
I chose out a pair of denim shorts and a white tank top. I chose a black silky cardigan, in case it is cold later on. (picture on the side)
I change into my clothes, add a small bit of makeup and take a look in the mirror. I check the time; 7:58 pm. I might have enough time to curl my hair...
I grab my curlers and quickly get to work, allowing my hair to swirl into delicate curls.
I finished at around 8:45 pm, with minutes to spare. I added a bit of hair spray to keep my hair in place before grabbing one of my black converses and heading down stairs. I made sure my phone was in my pocket, after tieing my shoe on and making sure my walking boot is tied on properly.
I fiddle with my fingers as I waited. I had chosen not to watch television, as the taxi would be here soon. I peeked outside, it was getting slightly dark now. The street lamps were already on the the sky was covered by clouds.
I checked the clock 8:55. Five minutes until nine o'clock. My excitement was building and building; As well as my fear.

A beep sounded from outside. I jumped from the sofa, causing me to attract a dizzy spell, before running to the door. I grabbed the money from the side and shoved it into my pocket. I locked the door behind me and jogged to the taxi, in the best way I could.
I got in and said a small hello. He grunted in reply and began driving, already knowing where I wished to go.
The ride was silent as I sat quietly, looking out the window and my head resting on my hand. I loved looking out the window on a dark day. The lights had amazed me when I was a child, and even now they make me smile.
"How old are you today?" the driver aid. I jolted silly in my seat as he all of a sudden broke the silence. "I-I'm seventeen today." I allowed a smile to politely appear on my face. He nodded his head and looked at me thought he rear view mirror. "you look nice" I could tell this was awkward for him, but I suppose he doesn't get to talk to his passengers. "um, thanks." I replied as nicely as possible.
There was another silence. I looked back out the window and continued with my content staring.

"we're here, jade." the driver said. I once again jolted up. I had dozed off during the ride. I smiled at the driver, thanked him and gave him the money. "have fun." he called before I shut the door and he drove away.
I in took a breath of the fresh salty air. I was right on wearing the cardigan, it was slightly chilly. The sun was sitting just above the water, causing its reflection to glow on the waters surface. I looked around, confused as to why I couldn't see Kyle and the others. I could hear a faint echo of music in the distance and smiled. I noticed a sign stuck in the ground and went closer to read read It.
'jade, go this way!' it said and had an arrow pointing forward. I smiled and followed the instructions. After a small while of walking I came across a large dip. As I came to the edge of it, I saw a mini marquee at the bottom slightly further away. The music was now louder and I could see a small boom box on a small table in the marquee. Balloons were tied to the legs of the marquee and a long table held some small nibbles of food.
I began my trek down the hill. Happiness was bubbling inside of me. Still no sign of the guys. The moment I stepped foot on the flat surface which was the bottom of the hill, was the moment I had a mini heart attack.
"SURPRISE!" I heard them all yell. I yelped in surprise and hid my face. I looked back and saw my dad with a camera in hand, a red light glowing. Next to him on his right was Cory, grinning and laughing hysterically and on the left on my dad was Kyle and Clay. They were both laughing.
The sight of Kyle made my heart skip a beat. He looked utterly amazing with the suns rays sparkling on him. His eyes twinkling. "you guys nearly killed me!" I exclaimed dramatically. They only laughed louder.
"Happy birthday honey." my dad said, stepping forward and putting the camera in my face. "Say hi!" he joked. I pulled my best 'are-you-serious?' look and laughed.
Dad stepped back and allowed Cory to run up and hug me. "Happy birthday sis!" he said happily. My smile grew wider "thanks bro." he pulled away. I was immediately tackled by Clay. He lifted me off the ground and twirled me around in a Circle. "Happy birthday Jadey-Wady!!!" I gigged at his weird nickname for me. "Thank you bob." I mocked. He pulled back and looked at me with a raised eyebrow "Bob, seriously? Is that the best you could do?" he laughed and backed away.
Kyle walked to me and pulled me to him gently. He kissed my forehead and said "you look amazing, jade. Happy birthday." he placed another kiss on my forehead. "thanks Kyle."
I could tell today was going to be an amazing day. And hopefully, one I will live remember.
