Chapter 18

I sat on my bed, waiting to hear that familiar knock on the front door. Anxiety and excitement bubbled up inside me as I waited.

I heard the faint knock on the door and jumped up, falling to the floor - making a loud thump. I groaned as I (slowly) got back up. Once I was at mt feet again, I took a step forward, only to stop as I saw Kyle standing in the doorway with an amused expression on his face. "What are you looking at?" I said, mocking annoyance. "You." he said, a glint in his eyes. "Your dad let me in so I made my way up here, only to see my mate stuck on the floor." he said, a soft chuckle escaping his lips. I crossed my arms and raised my eyebrow as I said "and you didn't think to help me up?" we both shared a laugh.

"What did you need me for?" Kyle asked after our laughter subsided. I looked at him unsurely as I tried to work out how to ask him to help me. "I know I was a bit difficult earlier when you told me the bad news-" kyle cut me off and said "it's fine, we suspected you would act the way you did and you have every rot to be mad at me." he said, sincerely in his eyes. I allowed a half smile to spread across my lips "I know it's a lot to ask but... I - I really wanna survive the change and if completing our mating thingy will help improve my chances, then I am willing to do what I must." I informed him, averting my eyes from his gaze. "Are you sure you want to? We could do it on your birthday or -" I cut him off "No, I am ready, the sooner the better." I met his chocolate brown eyes. They expressed a mixture of love, care and... Fear.

"Where shall we go?" I asked after a moment of shifty silence. He shrugged his shoulders "you kinda put me on the spot there." he joked humorlessly. "Do you wanna go to a hotel or what?" he looked pretty nervous. Something I hadn't seen within the two months I've known him. "How about your house?" I offered. He raised his eyebrows "really? You wanna do this at mine. But a hotel has... Uh..." he just stared into space as he thought of an excuse. What was he hiding? "What's wrong with your place?" I asked. He let out a sigh and replied "nothing! Its just... Its just because I really want this to be romantic and special for you... To be honest about it, I'm pretty nervous." My heart fluttered at his kind words. He is so sweet!

"You don't have to make it perfect, Kyle. Believe it or not, I love you weather or not you want our first time in a non-romantic setting." I said truthfully. That was the first time I had said I loved him. I know it's crazy but, it's true. "you really mean that?" he said in disbelief. I nodded my head and made my way over to him. My crutches tapped with movement as I moved three steps forward. I leaned my crutches on my doorway and hugged Kyle with all my might. He hugged me back with no delay. "I love you too." he whispered into my ear. His breath tickled my ear, which made me shudder the slightest bit.

"Come on." he said quietly as he guided me out of my bedroom and into the hall way (after I picked my crutches back up).  

"Where are you guys going?" my dad asked as he appeared in the doorway which lead the the dining room. "I'm going Kyle's house for a bit. That ok?" I asked unsurely. He scanned Kyle once before nodding his head in approvement. I thanked him and said my good byes before I locked the door behind us.

It took us two minutes to get to Kyle's house and before we knew it we were in his room, sitting on his. "How's this gonna work?" I asked him blankly after a short moment of silence. "Well, I need to mark you first then we go on from there." He answered. I nodded my head in understanding. "Are you ready?" I asked him. He nodded his head, a small smile slowly spread across his lips.

I laid my crutches on the floor and laid down on the bed, next to Kyle. I turned onto my side so I was facing him. We stared into each other's eyes for what seemed like forever. It was difficult not to get lost in the beautiful, never ending depths of his chocolate brown eyes. "I am so sorry if I hurt you, Jade." He said, his eyebrows knitting together. "Don't be." I said, smoothing out his brows. He let a half smile appear on his perfect lips before leaning forward to my neck. He started to kiss it at first but then I felt his razor sharp canines graze my skin. He hesitated for a second. "It's ok." I reassured him. He then dug his canines into my skin, breaking it like butter. A little moan escaped my mouth as satisfaction overcame me. Kyle moaned too as a reaction to mine.

He pulled his teeth out carefully and licked his mark. I was surprised it didn't hurt at all, to be honest. I thought I would get a sharp pain but... instead I got pleasure - not that I'm complaining.

"Are you ok?" Kyle asked after he licked his lips. I nodded my head, unable to speak. I kissed his lips and he kissed me back. He licked my bottom lip for entrance and I happily allowed it. Our tongues molded together perfectly, like they were made for each other. A moan escaped my lips once again. Our breathing increased, always in sync, and thing began getting exciting.

We lay in a sweaty heap and waited for our breathing to return to normal. Our clothes were in a heap on the floor. I looked at him. His eyes were closed and he looked like a sleeping God - a sexy one at that. Feathers were floating around us from the damaged pillows, it reminded me of snow and we were laying in a warm cocoon inside an igloo. The moment was beautiful and I didn't want it to end. Ever.

Kyle's POV

I prop my head onto Jade's chest and close my eyes. I had never done this before. Now I shall only do this with my mate. The only one that makes me smile. The only one that keeps my heart beating. I now know I will always, no matter what, compare this moment to others. None could beat it. My life was finally complete. 

I opened my eyes to see a bright pair looking back at me. I smiled at the sight of my mate. She was so beautiful - more beautiful than words can describe. I was glad I was spending the rest of my life with this little angel. 

"Hey." She whispered, her warm breath tickling my face. "Hey." I replied. I let out a breathy laugh. I really was the luckiest guy in the universe.
