Literally pointless, just fluff I guess? But most of it is friendship goals?
Platform nine and three quarters, the letter said. "There's no such thing," you huffed. You stood between platforms nine and ten, disgruntled. There were no signs indicating the platform you were looking for was here. You hesitantly went up to a guard. "Sir," you said softly. The man turned around to face you. "I'm looking for platform nine and three quarters." He furrowed his eyebrows before laughing. "Nice one, kid." He gave you a harsh pat on the back as he walked off, causing you to slightly stumble forward.
"Come on, kids! Right between nine and ten!" you heard a woman say as she walked by you. You pushed your cart, running to catch up to the rushing mother. "Excuse me, Miss!" you exclaimed. She slowed down to a stop and looked from her kids to you. The tallest one ran straight through the wall of a column. "Hello, dear. Are you a first year?" she asked.
You nodded, staring as another disappeared into the wall. "Don't worry," she grabbed your shoulder. "It's Sean's first time, too." You looked over at her other boy, the shortest one, who was about your height. He gave you a nervous smile. She lightly pushed you in front of her boy. "Just take a light jog right on in." She gave you a nudge of encouragement.
This is insane, you thought. You gulped, running through the wall and squeezing your eyes shut. You opened them to see a huge train, and above your head, a sign.
"Hogwarts Express
Platform 9 3/4"Sean came running out behind you. You grinned at each other before dropping off your luggage and boarding the train. You both slipped into an empty booth, sitting across from each other. You realized you hadn't said a word to the boy. You extended your arm and he'll do it your hand. "I'm (y/n)." He shook your hand. You already knew his name, so he said the customary "nice to meet you." You were alone for a few minutes, just talking about random things, when a boy popped his head into the booth. "All the others are full, can I sit with you?" he questioned. You noted his American accent.
You and Sean shared a glance before nodding. The boy sat next to you, introducing himself to you both. "I'm Mark." You and Sean introduced yourselves to him. Then, you just had to ask. "Are you from America?" He smiled at you. "Yeah. I moved here from Ohio two years ago."
After the train started moving, you all got candy from the trolley. You laughed and told stories to each other. This lead to them both finding out you were raised by normal people. "You're muggle born?" Mark asked with fascination. You confirmed his question and Sean leaned forward to poke your cheek, as if to check if you were real. You giggled and pushed him away. Sean and Mark both had wizard parents, and had grown up in the wizard world. You made sure to tell them all about the muggle world, and they told you all the fascinating things about the wizard world.
You arrived at the destination and everyone had to climb into boats to get to the school. You sat between Sean and Mark. The two boys in front of you turned around to say hello. Their names were Dan and Phil. When you got out and everyone gathered at the bottom of a giant staircase, a boy next to you introduced himself as Felix. You felt like you already made more friend than you had in your normal school.
The entire group of kids was eventually led into a humongous dining hall. Older kids already sat at the tables, but all of the tables had room for more. You and everyone else were led to an empty table, nervously conversing with each other.
An old man gave a speech, everyone listening intently. Some of the older students making comments to eat other every so often. A brown, dusty hat and a stool were brought out. The "sorting hat" looked like a cliché witch hat. A girl was called, and she nervously sat on a stool, the hat placed on her head. The hat suddenly sprouted facial features, like eye sockets and a mouth. It was honestly kind of terrifying. "Gryffindor!" it shouted, and the people under red banners cheered. She went to go sit with them, receiving encouraging slaps on her back. After a bit, Mark was called, and you squeezed his shoulder as a silent 'good luck'. He was put into Gryffindor. You and others around you cheered for him as he approached the roaring table.
