«Chapter 33- Hazel's Theory; Three Levels of Shifters»

3rd Person's P.O.V

As Levi and Hazel entered the cabin, they found the 104th trainee squad complete inside with Mike, Hange and Erwin standing at the opposite side of the room. Upon sensing the two's arrival, Erwin turned around and started the meeting.

"Let's start the meeting, shall we?" He said as Hazel simply nodded and Levi just clicked his tongue. Hazel took the seat next to Titus as Levi took the seat across her.

"For all you know, we are here for a mission but you still don't know what it is," Hange started as Eren asked.

"What is it actually? What kind of mission?" He asked as Hange look at Erwin at the corner of her eyes and he answered the young cadet's questions.

"There are sightings of titans in this area of the wall and we are tasked to find out if that is true. You will split into teams that has some certain tasks to fulfill," he said with his usual stoic expression and glanced at Hazel who are just looking down at the table, lost in her thoughts or something. "And I believe Hazel has something to say to us."

Upon saying that, all eyes were shifted to the quiet blonde woman who averted her gaze at the taller man. They had a few moments of eye contact before Hazel broke it with an irritated sigh.

"These aren't just titans," she finally said and some raised an eyebrow, some gasped and some looked confused.

"What do you think these are?" Hange asked, curiously.

"These are shifters. Bruagstien titan shifters," Titus, Eren and Armin's eyes widened at the last three words that came out of Hazel's mouth. Eren even stood up.

"Wait, wait, wait! I thought you and Titus are the only Bruagstiens left? How come there are more?! And what's with that shit about shifters?" Hazel glared at Eren making his sit down again.

"I also thought we are the only ones left in the family but I can feel their presence. My grandfather once told me about the three types of shifters--" Hange cut Hazel off by asking a question.

"Three types of shifters?" She asked as Hazel sighed and nodded.

"Back when I was learning to shift properly with my grandfather, he told me the three types of shifters. The lower level which are like the normal titans but has a more human-like stature than the others. The middle level which are like the lower level's stature but has some unique skills, in other words, skillful shifters and the higher levels which are the shifters that are skillful and has a more abnormal forms like thicker skins and  visible muscles. And Titus and I are naturally from the middle level and Eren is naturally from the lower level becoming a middle leveled shifter."

Hazel explained to them.

"And naturally, our family are from the middle level where we can sense other shifters nearby with their levels and send signals through telepathy," Hazel added also looking at three certain people in the room who seem to be tensed. "These shifters are Bruagstiens because the are middle levels."

"Still it doesn't explains that they are part of your family," Jean said, crossing his arms as Hazel felt more irritated.

"Then let me tell you why my grandfather died!" She irritatedly said "He was killed by our family members and got away with it."

"Wait! I thought grandpa died because of an illness?" Titus asked, raising an eyebrow.

"No. He was killed. I was there almost 30 minutes after the culprits left and he told me his last words. We're not the only one," Hazel said "That's what the government made the people thinks but I saw it. I saw the blood around our grandfather and I heard his words. I never understand it until now!" She added.

"We're not the only one. Meaning you aren't the only members of your family left. There are more lingering inside the wall unknown," Armin said and Hazel nodded, feeling her irritation lessen after the blond boy understands her.

"I agree with Hazel. Would you think those people who reported these sightings would bother coming to the Survey Corps than the police? Obviously, these people aren't just normal citizens," Levi said, narrowing his eyes.

"So what are you thinking now?" Erwin asked as Armin raised his hand. "Yes, Arlert?"

"I still think we should split into teams to find the location of these shifters and once tracked, Hazel-san an Titus must go there as a civilian lost in their way and pretend to be one with them while the others keep watch. Hazel-san could send informations to Eren and he can just tell us what she said," Armin explained as Eren grinned.

"That's great, Armin!" Eren exclaimed.

"But," Mikasa said making everyone look a her, "What if these people suspect us? It's a big risk."

"Don't worry. Some of you can stay close to us, just to make sure it's safe. Anyone but Eren must be in that group because they might sense another shifter nearby," Hazel said and glanced at the certain three once more.

"So that's the plan? Who else have a suggestion?" Hange asked as everyone stayed quiet, meaning it's okay with them. "So, we'll start in two days. Tomorrow will be the announcement of the groups in the mission."

"Dismissed," Erwin said as they stood up, except for Levi and saluted. They left the cabin one-by-one with Hazel be the last one leaving. Before leaving the cabin, she looked back at Levi who was still on his seat and looking at the table. She looked away and left the cabin.

A few minutes after she left, Levi spoke.

"Are you sure about the plan, Erwin?" He asked the taller male who was left alone with his in the cabin.

"Yes," he simply answered.

"We can't risk another life here," Levi said, narrowing his piercing cold eyes.

"Losing lives are part of the process of this mission. That natural. Are you worried that one of lives that are going to disappear are dear to you?" Levi stayed quiet after the question, his heart squeezing inside his ribcage at the thought of Hazel dying before him. "Remember, Levi. Hazel is a strong woman with a strong will. She won't die easily even now that she is free to use her power."

"She almost died back at the last mission," Levi stressed and Erwin smiled gently at him.

"But you were there to save her, right?" He asked and Levi clicked his tongue, "And her brother is there, Hange and the others are there. There are many people who can save Hazel so don't worry. She'll be safe."
