- Elizabeth's POV -
My head began to thump the moment my annoying alarm woke me up at 7:30am for the first day of school. I felt nervous but also excited to meet many more people like Amber.. Speaking of Amber, she had been awake for ages writing in a notebook.
"Morning!" She shouted across the room with a smile, I stared at her in disbelief that she could even smile at this time of the morning. I put my pillow over my head to block out the light so I could doze off again but it was no use.
"I should've showered an hour ago!" Amber shouted in a panic before sprinting out of our bedroom, I rolled my eyes and dragged myself out of bed. I sat in silence for a moment before noticing that Amber had left her notebook open on her bed, do I peep inside? I couldn't help myself.
I got up and walked across the room to her messy bed, I picked up the notebook and began flicking through the pages. It was filled with random characters Amber had made up, most of them were lesbians and couples. She had described them so clearly and I could see the way they looked in my head, I suddenly felt bad for looking through her private notebook but I'm overly nosy.
I set the book down and got changed into a denim dress, frilly white socks and my navy vans. I tied my hair up and then Amber returned from the shower rooms in her outfit for the day. Amber was in her black dungarees with a red top under it, she smiled at me while drying her hair with a towel.
I felt like an awful person as she put her notebook under her pillow, I watched her for a while as I thought to myself. Is Amber gay? Why didn't she tell me this when we first met? Maybe she was afraid I'd be homophobic..
"Effie? Can you plait my hair?" Amber asked interrupting my thoughts, I looked up at her and nodded. Amber put her record player on as I took my time perfecting her pretty blue hair, it really did suit her even if the blonde bitch didn't think so. As I finished plaiting Amber's hair I checked my phone for any messages from my parents wishing me good luck on my first day, no new messages.
"Shit! It's almost 9:00am!" I shouted while staring at my phone, me and Amber began running around the room looking for our shoes and bags. When we found them we headed to the small kitchen which was connected to the common room.
"Do you want anything?" I asked her while hurrying around the kitchen looking for things to eat, Amber was putting on mascara in the mirror which hung above the TV.
"I'll have some toast please!" She shouted, I put two pieces of bread in the toaster and waited patiently for it to pop. The boarding house was empty and silent because everybody was at school and weren't late like me and Amber.
The toast was finally ready! I grabbed them and handed Amber's piece to her, we then exited the boarding house and headed to our registration class in school. I was curious as to how this school would work, would it be the exact same as a public school? Me and Amber finished our toast just in time as we entered the huge brick building which was our new school, Amber linked arms with me as we hurried through the busy corridors. She was holding the timetable out in front of us as we searched for room eleven on the bottom floor, we finally found the classroom and ran towards it.
- Amber's POV -
Me and Effie entered the classroom and apologised to the teacher for being late, there were two seats left at the front of the room and we quickly sat down. The three rude girls who commented on my hair were sitting at the back of the room, the blonde girl smirked as soon as she saw me and Effie enter. The other terrifying girl was also in our class, she was sitting alone glancing out of the classroom window.
"Alright! This is our first registration class so I thought we could do an ice breaker since we are all going to be stuck with each other for the next year" The teacher said while laughing, I sighed loudly... Great.
