Chapter Fifty // First Semester

- Amber's LAST POV -

The Halloween Ball had arrived! The school hall would open in over an hour for everybody to join together and have the night of their lives. Me and Effie were getting into our gowns while dancing around our bedroom to upbeat music, I was extremely excited to spend time with Jade in public. Effie didn't seem too excited about the Halloween Ball but she was coming anyway, I sat at my desk in my red velvet dress doing homework for my Monday morning class.

"Okay.. I'm ready" Effie said quietly, I turned around to see her standing in a black lace dress that looked like it had been made for her. My jaw dropped and she stared at me weirdly before laughing.

"Wow wow wow wow" I repeated before telling her to spin around, Effie shook her head refusing to believe that she looked beautiful. I jumped up from my chair and hugged her tightly, we complimented each other before having a chat.

"I can't believe first semester is almost over" Effie said widening her eyes, I nodded in agreement. Effie sat down on her bed and slipped into her high heels which made her so much taller than usual, I clapped as she stood up and walked up and down the bedroom.

"Now you're finally the right height for your age!" I shouted while laughing, Effie stumbled over to me before hitting me on the arm jokingly. She sat down at my desk before pulling out a bag with makeup inside, I stared at her in shock while approaching.

"I didn't know you liked make up?"

"I love make up but I'm shit at it, I may as well try for tonight" She muttered while pulling out a liquid eyeliner and moving as close as she could to the mirror, I watched her while holding back my laughter. Effie's hair was curled perfectly and it really suited her, my hair was in two french plaits just the way I like it.

"We're two months into school, we've found a good group of friends, figured out our sexualities and somehow found girls who we like.. Everything is moving quickly" Effie explained before messing up the eyeliner and groaning in frustration, she wiped it off quickly with a makeup wipe and then started again.

"Girls?.. You like somebody?!" I shouted in shock, Effie glanced back at me as if I was stupid before laughing loudly.

"Of course I do, I'm crazy about Priya. Haven't you noticed?!" Effie told me as she concentrated on the mirror, I sighed loudly as I had no idea there were any chemistry between them. But as for me I'm finally in a relationship and with A GIRL! The best type of relationship, I'm very excited to see how it goes in the future. Discovering my sexuality has been the best thing about first semester as well as meeting so many new people, I smiled to myself while thinking about Jade.

"I can't fucking do this!" Effie yelled angrily, she threw the liquid eyeliner across the room and scrubbed it off her face. I patted her on the back gently before getting up and choosing what jewellery I'd be wearing to the Ball.

Suddenly the bedroom door knocked, I glanced at Effie who was having a breakdown over eyeliner so I decided to answer it. I opened the door to see Elijah and a girl I didn't recognise, I welcomed them both and they entered the room.

"Effie? What's up?" Elijah asked her while staring weirdly. Elijah looked stunning! He was in a suit with a blue striped tie and his date was in a blue dress to match.

"I can't do make up! I'm a shit excuse for a girl!" Effie shouted with her face down on the table, I rolled my eyes and laughed quietly.

"I'll do your make up!" Elijah's date shouted happily, we both glanced at her in shock and Effie finally raised her head. Effie agreed to letting her perfect the eyeliner while me and Elijah waited patiently for them to finish.
