- Jade's POV -
History is the most boring subject known to man, nobody wants to know about irrelevant people from hundreds of years ago. The worst thing about this class was that I was stuck beside one of the bitches, Carrie-Anne. She was the quiet one of their posse, she confused me because she was actually a decent person yet she hung out with two Satan's.
As our teacher continued to talk random bullshit, Carrie-Anne leaned across the table and looked at me. I stared at her weirdly and she smiled at me.
"I just want to say sorry for the way Ashley talks to you, it's not cool" She whispered, I rolled my eyes and sighed loudly because she had put me in a bad mood. I don't care what Ashley says to me anymore but when her friends try to fix the mess she has created it annoys me.
"Why are you friends with those assholes? They are so rude to everybody and you let them do it, you wouldn't be laughing if they were attacking you everyday" I told her angrily, she stared at me with her eyebrows raised. I guess she was expecting me to say "It's completely fine!".
"I don't laugh at their jokes. I don't care if Ashley gets in trouble but I care about your feelings, so don't take your anger out on me. But Priya is my best friend and if I snapped at her I would be afraid to lose her" Carrie-Anne explained in a sassy tone, this girl really does hide her attitude under a ditsy persona.
The classroom door knocked and a smart lady entered, she approached the teacher and whispered something to her.
"Jade, you're wanted at the office" The teacher said, what the hell have I done now? I got up and followed the lady out of the room. She lead me down the corridor and down the stairs, I sighed loudly because I really couldn't be bothered with getting shouted at.
"What is this about? Did I do something wrong?" I asked the lady who was walking in front of me, she shook her head.
"Your mother. That's all I know" She said without looking back at me, shit. My head began to spiral with the 'what if' question, until it got heavier and heavier and I could feel my chest tightening. Maybe the specialists couldn't help her and she ended herself, I immediately felt so much guilt for leaving her.
When we reached the office the lady brought me over to a waiting area, she handed me a phone and told me to press '1' to talk to the person on the line. I took a deep breath and composed myself for the worst possible outcome of this conversation.
"Hello?" I said clearly after pressing the button, there was rustling coming from the other end of the phone before my mums voice.
"Jade! Baby!" She shouted happily, I could finally breathe again.
"Hey mum, how are you?" I asked her, she began to tell me all about the hospital and how comfortable her new bed was. She said the food was shit but the people were really nice to her and she was enjoying word search puzzles in the newspaper.
"That's great. I'm really proud of you for staying alive, I know its hard" I told her quietly.
"Being alive is great! How is school? Any girls?!" Mum asked, I rolled my eyes and laughed nervously.
"Maybe.. School is good though. I should probably go now mum, I'm missing my history class" I said trying to avoid the topic of girls.
"Oh that's fine, call me soon?"
I promised to call her in a few days and then we said goodbye, I thanked the lady at the office for finding me. Somehow I thought I would never hear my mums voice again so it was refreshing to have even the shortest conversation with her.
The bell began to ring for the next class to begin, I hurried up the stairs to get my bag from the history room. I grabbed it and also thanked the teacher for letting me leave her class early to speak to my mum, I headed through the busy corridors to our next lesson.
