- Jade's POV -
I quickly got changed and out of my pyjamas because I was determined to put Ashley in her place, she has no idea what's coming for her. I'm tired of her being the only voice that is heard in our class, everybody bows down to her because they are afraid that if they don't she will punish them.
I locked my bedroom door and hurried down the corridors, the police assembly was almost over and I had to show my face before it finished or else Ashley would think I was afraid of her. I had no idea what my plan was to take down this bitch, all I knew was I would win the fight.
When I got to the outside of the boarding house I noticed somebody sitting on the brick wall which separates the two schools. I walked closer to the person and realised it was Elijah, I took a cigarette from my pocket and joined him on the wall.
"Oh, Hey Jade" He said with a smile, I smiled back at him and lit the cigarette with Ross' lighter.
"Don't you have school today?" I asked him, he nodded.
"I do. I have study now, I decided to get some fresh air" Elijah explained while looking up at the clouds. He turned to me and watched me smoke for a moment.
"Who the hell sets a school on fire?!" Elijah asked me while shaking his head, I shrugged and began to laugh.
"It was probably an accident, I don't think anybody would be that stupid. They're going to find out who did it" I told him, he nodded in agreement.
"Whatever happens I'm going to get blamed for it, a homophobic bitch in my class just wants me out of this school" Elijah rolled his eyes at what I said.
"Look.. Jade" Elijah began speaking, he lowered his head and sighed. I could tell what he was about to say was important because of the tone of his voice.
"Amber is incredibly special and she needs love, not heartache" Elijah said, I stared at him weirdly as if he was implying I would break her heart.
"I agree. With me I'm used to sleeping with a girl and then going my separate ways but-"
"You're not planning to do that with Amber, right?" Elijah interrupted me with an angry expression on his face.
"No, I was about to say I feel like that wouldn't be the case with Amber. She's special, as you said" I said before grinning, I began to think about all the things that intrigue me about Amber.
"I like the way she dresses, it's odd but somehow it suits her. She cares so much about people and I love the way her face lights up when she smiles. She also has the sweetest laugh" I said quietly to Elijah, I was unaware of how much I was spilling to him until he interrupted me by taking his phone out like he wasn't listening. I hit his arm and he almost fell off the wall.
"Stop being rude! I'm talking to you" I said angrily, he began to laugh to himself before putting his attention back on me.
"What was I talking about again?" I muttered to myself.
"Amber.."
I continued talking about the things I adored in Amber which felt really weird because I never show my sensitive side to anybody, not even my old friends or my mum. My mind was at ease when I thought about her or when I was with her. Telling her best friend was probably the worst idea I had ever thought of but it just happened, Elijah was smiling widely the whole time.
After five minutes of rambling on about her I finally stopped, my cheeks felt like they were on fire with embarrassment. Elijah began to laugh at me, he touched my cheeks and pretended to burn his hand on them.
"Fuck off" I muttered while shaking my head, he jumped off the wall and landed on his feet.
"I should get to class, it was nice talking to you Jade" Elijah said as he walked off, I waved goodbye and then prepared myself to enter the assembly hall.
- Amber's POV -
I had never felt more bored in my life, I was convinced half of the girls sitting in the assembly hall were asleep. I know the fire was serious and could've hurt somebody but the police who were taking the assembly were doing an awful job of keeping the crowd engrossed in what they were saying, nobody gave a shit.
They rambled on about criminal records for people who try to burn down buildings and how many people die from fires every year, I was just angrily thinking about my English homework that should've been in my teachers hands today.
Effie was sitting at the front of the hall with Carrie-Anne, Ashley and Priya. I felt like I was slowly being abandoned by her, was she going to turn into a bitch just like the rest of them? Thinking about having no friends was making my anxiety run wild, I would be laughed at for being a loner.
There was so much I didn't know about Effie and Priya's relationship, most of it was a secret because of Priya's past (which I also didn't know about). I care about Effie a lot and I'm worried that Priya could hurt her, she has already gave the girl a second chance and if she messes that up then I will be angry.
My phone vibrated in my dungarees pocket, I slowly took it out and checked who it was. As I go to a posh and expensive boarding school I'm pretty sure I'd get punished for being on my phone, especially in a serious assembly run by the police.
It was Elijah, he had sent me a voice message with the title;
"Look who I bumped into;)"
I rolled my eyes and plugged my earphones into my phone, I needed to know what the voice message was about and I couldn't wait another ten minutes until the assembly finished.
The assembly hall door slammed suddenly, some girls in the back of the room including me looked back to see Jade entering. I smiled widely as I watched her walk slowly through the crowds to find a seat, I glanced down at my phone and pressed the play button on the voice message Elijah had sent me before looking up at Jade again.
"Amber is different from every other girl I've ever met, a good different of course. Sometimes I feel honoured to be in the same room as her, it sounds weird but it's true. She is never afraid to show her emotions and she is beautiful.. She doesn't even know it".
By the time the voice message had ended there were tears rolling down my cheeks, Jade really said all of those things about me? I continued to stare at her across the hall while crying quietly because I felt loved for the first time in my life.
Jade looked up and noticed me watching her, she smiled widely at me and I smiled back with thousands of butterflies crowding in my stomach.
