The prince decided to visit the mermaid a little earlier than usual. He had already eaten and finished the last of his documenting for royal investments the day before. And the last of the Imperial Festivities were over. He hadn't seen Kai in a few days. Edmond was anxious as he set sail for her small island.
I cannot believe I may actually miss a sirens demeaning company! I'm sick of proper pleasantries and nobles throwing their daughters into my arms for a dance. Or other aristocratic families desperately begging me to marry into their family. How stupid! Now that I have seen the unreal, reality seems rather ...dull.
His thoughts escalated as he tied his boat to one of the many palm trees on shore. As he walked to Kai's post he realized just how strange to small island was. It looked like something out of a fairy tale. A beach of pink sands filled with palm trees and rocky boulders. The sands were decorated in colorful sea glass and shells.
Pink sands. The prince smiled. An obvious yet suddle sign of pink dolphins.
As one marched on, pass the beach there was a forrest. He had never seen any animal in the forrest, with the exception of a few birds and lizards. But he did see strange prints in the sand that were nether bird nor lizard, they were too big. Edmond knew it could not be Kai, she could not go on land. Was there another creature? Possibly...
The prince went exploring the island before going to see the mermaid each time he returned. It became routine. He realized this island in particular was... special. Enchanted? Perhaps. He believed it might be becuase strange fog covered it's woods. It's small forrest was tropical and yet... not. There were palm trees and hibiscus plants near the beach. But redwoods were deeper in the island. And near Kai's sanctuary, with the exception of more palm trees, there were willow trees. And other wild flowers. But the plant and animal life deep in the center of the island were even stranger. Once as Edmond was wandering, he heard weeping. He followed the sobs to a willow tree. He called out. But no one answered him. Could the willow actually be weeping? It was next to many other willows over a small lagoon. Drips of water seemed to come off its vines, forming the body of water. Like a puddle of tears.
