"Madame wait! Please!" The prince cried, grabbing her wrists, trying to block her blows. Kai ignored his pleas. She had managed to cut his hands and arms, but wasn't able to kill the prince. He was fighting back. The prince shoved her off, making her drop the blade. He then kicked it away from her.

It has been a few hundred years since the mermaid had to fight anyone, let alone a human.

Kai grabbed the collar of his shirt and dragged him in the water with her. They fought under and above the water. Each time Kai tried to drown him, the prince always managed to break free. He was full of adrenaline. But Kai could tell he was struggling and fighting for his life.

Although she was rusty herself, this battle felt like childsplay.

Why is he not defending himself better? Kai wondered. Males humans are sappouse to be naturally stronger. The prince grabbed Kai and pinned her down on the rock, on land.

"Madame calm yourself please!" He said urgently, and out of breath. "I will not harm you, I'm trying to help. Was your ship wrecked? Are you hurt? Here take my jacket and cover yourself-"

It was then Edmond looked into her eyes. He immediately fell silent and become entranced by their dazzling violet hue. Humans rarely have violet eyes, but none as lovely as hers.

The prince then saw the scales covering her chest. As he looked lower he saw her tail...The prince backed away quickly and said "What are you?"

Kai sat up and grabbed the knife behind her without him seeing , remaining silent. She was beached on land and had no where to go.

"My lady can you speak?"

Kai swallowed hard as she eyed him. She was not afirad, but caught off gaurd non the less. She was able to conceal her feelings, well. Oh I'm going to be in so much trouble for this. Shark bait! What do I say? We've remained hidden so well, and I have endangered my people...

Flashbacks of the Marine War flashed through her mind. Pictures of floating bodies. Sounds of screams. A pale moon. The helplessness. The thickness of the bloody water. The toxins in the sea. The verge of extinction. Genocide. Kai took a deep breath and calmly said

"I am daughter of Pearl Marine," Kai began, "of the mer people destined to defend the sea and all in it. Even if it means death."

"You speak English?"

"Yes. The mermaid dialect is the root for all human language. We can easily communicate with you, if we wish." Her voice was eerily calm.

"And- but... you're a mermaid.... a myth?"

"You are talking to me are you not? Mankind wiped out half of my people becuase of the abuse to the sea. That is why you have never seen one before, we almost went extinct. We chose to remian in hiding." She responded.

The prince nodded trying to take in what was happening.

"So," he said "are you the one singing? On the rocks? That sad song?"

Kai was surprised and asked "You heard me human?"

"Edmond," he replied "Prince Edmond."

"Prince? A title? Son of a leader?"

"Of an Emperor, yes."

"I see..." Kai said calmly.

She then dove in the water ready to flee. But Prince Edmond grabbed her arm.

"Release me human! I demand you, how dare-" she pulled her dagger to his wrist, but Prince Edmond caught her hand.

"My name is Edmond," he said, feeling insulted, "And I would like to know yours..."

The prince grinned at her slyly like she should be melting at his touch; abiding his every command like a servant girl. Kai looked at him in disbelief.

"Release me human or I will hurt you." she said coldly.

But the prince was stubborn and said "My lady, your name, please..."

Kai observed the arrogant prince. He was the color of cream with plain brown eyes. Prince Edmond had short golden brown hair and was very tall. Because he was a prince he was obviously trained to lead his men in battle, so he was built quite well for being so young. Kai guessed he might have been 19 or 20. Kia on the other hand was 3,019 this was due to the fact that humans aged much faster than mermaids.(Some can live over a 100,000 years old, if they were in good health.) Kai was already judging and classifying Edmond.

Just another spoiled, perverted, wealthy boy. One who has used and played girls like pawns. For both political and pleasurable reasons. Disgusting...let's see how he likes it...

Smiling sweetly at him, Kai let the dagger fall from her hands and into the water, with a plop. The prince didn't notice, for he was too preoccupied with her beautiful smile. She flipped her hair aside pulled herself next to him so her side was touching his. His eyes lingered on her for a moment too long.

Kai smiled compassionately, as she leaned closer to him and innocently whispered "As you, wish, my liege. I shall tell you all you want to know."

The prince flashed Kai his star bright smile. Edmond thought he had gotten cooperation, but he was very wrong. As soon as Edmond had let go of Kai's arm, she hit the prince with her tail in his neck, knocking him unconscious.

"My name is Kai..." she said proudly.

She dove in the water, retrieving her dagger, and swam away to warn the mer people to be on guard...

How am I going to explain this? Let's just hope that I hit him hard enough, so he thinks this all was a dream.
