Evenntually during the fifth month, Kai woke up. The humans did everything in their power to make sure Kai and her mother were comfortable. Kai was in and out of conciousness. Sometimes she was normal and could have conversation. Other times what she said made no sense at all. She would have hallucinations about The Marine War. She'd scream, she'd kick, fight, sometimes fall off the bed. The mermaid would talk in her sleep about what hapened during the war. In the sixth month, Kai began having nightmares.

One time she spoke about that night on the naval ship with those men...

It was late. The whole Imperial palace was fast asleep. Except for the medical staff in Kai's chambers. Kai was in deep sleep, which normally was good. But she was having a horrifying nightmare. She wouldn't stop screaming. The nurses and doctors couldn't wake her. They immeadtly sent for Emperor Caesar. He reluctantly woke to a hard, urgent knock at the door.

" Who dares to disturb my slumber?" The Emperor said annoyed, still half asleep, as he sat up in bed.

"Your grace," the servant said nervously. "It's Lady Kai. She's having a nightmare and we can't wake her-"

Just then a haunting scream cut the messenger short. Enough was said. Concern filled Caesar. Kai alomost felt like like a daughter to him now.

" That's what that terrible sound is?" He asked bewildered and filled with horror.

The servant nodded.

"Quick fetch my robe! We must inform my son." Caesar ordered, power in his voice. He marched out of bed toward Edmond's chambers. His servant followed cautiously behind him, trying to keep up. When they reached the prince's chambers, the Emperor burst through the door.

" Edmond!" he boomed. "Son you must wake. It's Kai!"

Edmond roused, slowly opening his eyes. " Kai?" He mumbled.

" She's having another nightmare. The nurses can't -"

Another ghostly scream echoed through the palace. Edmond's eyes shot open, and he bolted upwards.

The startled prince looked to his father. "Kai!?"

The Emperor nodded and motioned for Edmond to follow him. Putting their robes on, they rushed to Kai's chambers. When they entered, the seen was tragically chaotic. Medical staff were running to and fro with elixirs and papers. Some nurses were trying to console Lady Pearl, Kai's mother. She looked rather distressed and seemed to be on the verge of crying. The Emperor and Prince noted that some of the care takers were aiding and mending to eachother. They were injured. Other staff, both male and female were holding down Kai, trying to wake her.

" What is the meaning of this?" Edmond demanded, his vioce as icey as fresh frost.

Everyone froze. Except Kai still fighting, tossing and turning, breathing heavily in her bed. She wouldn't stop screaming and yelling for help.

"We can't wake Lady Kai sire. She is in too deep of a sleep." A doctor answered.

Pearl cleared her throat, and spoke, her voice was soft and brittle. " Becuase Kai is believed to be part of a prophecy, she has unique powers. She has advanced or hightened mermaid abilities, which even effects her dreams, both visionary and realistic. When she enters a state of raw emotion, in a trance such as this, it is very difficult to get her out of it."
