Kai couldn't believe her ears.
After I have a gruesome battle with a monster and I'm weak and injured you ask me to dinner?! Even though you didn't help? How do I know he's not trying to kill or seduce me?...The Elders said to go along with this, to be peaceable. Does this fall into that category?...It's very risky. I'm injured, he might just try to capture me. Its been over a year... would he wait that long for the kill?
Kai pondered a moment longer but then said "Edmond if I did say yes, how would we meet? For you are of land and I am of sea. And this is not a romantic evening. It would be a meal with the enemy. And I-"
Edmond was listening to her explanation at first, but soon became distracted by the movement of her lips.
Her lips seem to be almost tinted with a gold gloss...Something about their aura makes them appear luscious... and soft. I wonder how they will feel when they meet mine. He did his best to supress a smirk. Wait what is she saying?! Oh right dinner...
"Well, if that's what you would like to call it then that's what it will be. So, my lovely enemy... is that a yes?" Edmond asked slyly
Kai couldn't seem to make up her mind...
"No."
The prince frowned. "And why not?"
"You are my enemy."
"Then call it a feast truce."
"My answer is no."
He glared at her. "I can't believe-"
"Someone finally resisted your so called charms?" Kai snapped. "Take your half of the beast and leave."
She turned away from him to return to the water. She knew she should check on the frightened dolphins.
"Kai, what are you afraid of?" He taunted.
The mermaid immediately turned to him and reached up, pulling him down to her by the sash of his tunic. "You and I both know that I could have easily taken your life the day we met. Becuase I was only planning on encountering you once, I spared your life, and let the tide drag you out. But then you decided to hunt me down, a foolish idea by the way. A mermaid is stronger than mortal man. But as for me," Kai let out an evil laugh. "Oh human, you have one idea what I am capable of. So I suggest you head my warning and not argue. Do you really want to challenge the master again?"
"Very well. I shall take me leave. But I will return."
"And why would you do a stupid thing like that?" She growled, clutching him closer.
"Becuase mermadien, I do not believe that is the real reason you spared me. No being is born a cold blodded killer. I think you are curious about the creature you were raised to hate and eliminate. Just as I am curious of you."
"Your telling me you risk your life and endure through my insults to simply satisfy curiosity?"
"Precisely." He smirked.
Kai opened her mouth to speak but then closed it. Was he right? Perhaps to some extent he was... No! Don't allow his mind tricks to stumble you.
The prince's eyes twinkled in amusement. She held him for a little too long and studied him a little too intensely.
"Ugh." Kai cringed and dropped the prince to the ground.
He grunted as he sat up, glaring at her. She pointed him away.
"I know, I know. I must, leave. My life depends on it." With that he got up and made his way to back to the beach, where his boat awaited him.
