"Jordan!" James' voice called out from behind me. "That was a bad idea."

My legs felt numb, the adrenaline pumping through my veins began to run thin.

I was slowing down, and I could hear James' footsteps coming closer.

All the air escaped my lungs as I was tackled to the ground.

I'm not giving up easy this time.

Propping myself up on my elbows, I hurled my back to the side, throwing James off of me. Rolling over, I straddled his skinny figure.

With a grunt, my fist connect with his jaw. Ducking down, I avoided a punch that was headed towards the side of my skull.

"Get... Off of me," James bit through gritted teeth.

I dug my knees into the dirt below, trying my best to hold my ground.

James struggled beneath me, lifting his knee into my groin.

My body stiffened, jolts of pain flooding into my stomach. I collapsed onto my side, feeling the urge to vomit. Moaning, I clutched onto my pelvis, trying to recollect myself.

James was hovering over me now, reaching down to grab one of my wrists. He pulled it up, pinning it above my head.

"NO!" I gasped, pulling away my other hand before he could grab it.

"Give me your hand, Jordan," James demanded.

With my free hand, I reached for the key dangling from my neck. Clutching it firmly, I pulled hard enough to break the chain around my neck, jabbing the cleats of the key into bridge of James' nose.

As James released my wrists, I could feel his warm blood trickle onto my stomach.

I just broke his nose.

I kicked my legs, trying to crawl out from under his body.

"God damn it, Jordan!" James shouted, using one of his hands to push against my throat.

I gasped for air, trying to lift my legs.

Nothing worked.

Using the key again, I dug the tip of the metal into his shoulder, dragging it all the way down to his forearm.

He didn't release, in fact, he only tightened his grip.

"Please," I gasped out, stabbing the metal into James' bicep.

"I THOUGHT YOU LOVED ME!" James shouted in my face, blood dripping off his chin. "YOU NEVER LEARN, DO YOU?"

I bucked my hips up.

"DO YOU?" he shouted again, pushing harder against my Adam's apple.

A warm tear rolled down the side of my face, my lungs stinging.

James finally peeled hands away from my neck, wiping them on his cotton shirt.

I choked on my own spit, trying to bring in air through a shaky breath.

"I'm so sorry, Jordy," James sobbed, resting his forehead against my bare chest. "You have to learn."

James lifted himself off my body, blood from his nose pooling on the ground.

I drifted in and out of consciousness as James lifted me into his truck.

"We'll be back home soon..." he murmured. "You're never leaving again."
