"Uh, sure I guess..." I mumbled, preparing myself for another question about my kidnapping.

"Do you ever think about how big the galaxy is?"

"What?" I wasn't expecting that at all.

"I just think the Earth is so small compared to the whole universe. There has to be some other life form out there, or some kind of alternate universe, don't 'ya think?" Ingrid chimned, taking a small sip of her coffee.

"Um... I guess I've never really thought about it."

"Oh. I find myself thinking about it all the time."

I stayed silent, unsure of what to say.

"Maybe in one dimension, I'm a peasant girl from Indonesia..." she mumbled, pausing to think. "And maybe, another me is a tiny plankton in Middle-Earth."

"Yeah... That'd be pretty crazy," I muttered, laughing at how odd Ingrid's mind was.

"Jordan, may I ask you something personal?"

"Sure."

"Are you religious?"

"Um... J-Jewish," I stuttered, still wondering where this conversation was leading to.

"That's neat! I've been trying to diversify my knowledge on religions," Ingrid smiled.

"What's your religion?" I questioned.

"Well," she laughed. "That's hard to explain. I'm Agnostic, so I have many different theories on what could be out there, but I really want proof before I believe anything for sure."

"What theory do you like the most?" I asked, trying to create small talk. I'd rather talk about weird religions than James.

"I created my own theory. I used to be Christian, so I've always liked the idea of a bigger being, like a God. However, I also really liked Greek Mythology. It just made sense to me. One God rules everything? That would be difficult, so I made a compromise between the two," Ingrid explained.

I sat up in my bed, carefully reaching behind me to readjust my pillows. "What's the compromise? I-If you don't mind me asking."

"I'd love to share it!" Ingrid beamed, leaning forward in her seat, her brown curls surrounding her face. "So, I believe there are three Gods, who are all siblings. One is good, one is bad, and the final one creates balance in the land."

Ingrid stopped to take another drink from her coffee. I waited for her to continue, but she just stayed quiet.

"I haven't really thought about it too much. That's all I've got so far," she giggled, her cheeks flushing a soft pink color. "Sorry for boring you with my stupid theories."

"No, that's okay. I think they're cool..." I mumbled. "Never really took the time to think about it before."

Ingrid smiled softly, her eyes scanning over my body. I turned my gaze towards a loose thread in one of my blankets.

"Jordan, I'm going to test something. If you feel uncomfortable, don't be afraid to tell me. I'm here to help you, okay?" she explained in a hushed whisper.

I felt my heart pound against my chest. "Okay."

Examining her movements, I watched as she took the pen from behind her ear and scribbled something down on her notepad.

"What does this word mean to you?" she murmured quietly, handing me the sheet of paper.

I carefully read her neat handwriting.
