Ross's POV
I made my way to the fridge, grabbing a beer can and popping it open. She came out of her room, dressed in a simple t-shirt and a black skirt, her long, straightened blonde hair neatly tucked to one side. We had met a few months ago when I went to see a movie with my siblings and Madison came over to sit next to me. We instantly connected and I felt like I had known her for years.
"What're you doing, Ross?" She approached me as she playfully ruffled my hair.
"I wanted a drink?" I arched an eyebrow as she heaved a sigh.
"What's up? How are you and Ellie?"
I brought the bottle to my lips, taking a sip from it, the liquid burning my throat as I swallowed it down, "We're over."
"What?" Her eyes widened.
"Maddie, I know what you're going to say. Yeah, we were a nice couple and all, but she chose my best mate over me."
"Ross, I-" she gave me a sympathetic look as she wrapped her arms around my waist, giving me a slight squeeze.
I interrupted her, "I don't wanna talk about it. Just drop the subject, please, Mads."
She nodded, "If you ever wanna talk, I'm here for you."
"I know." I finally hugged her back as she looked up at me, her large eyes giving me a puppy look.
I looked away, chuckling softly as she pulled back, making her way over to the couch and sitting down, stretching her legs out. I followed, moving her legs so they were on my lap as I brought the beer bottle to my lips and turned the TV on.
I hadn't even realized that I had fallen asleep on the couch until Madison started shaking me, pecking my cheek, "Ross, wake up, you sleepyhead. I wanna talk!" I opened my eyes, rubbing them and looking around, seeing that the bottle was on the coffee table and Madison was waiting for me to say something,
"Hi." I laughed sleepily, "I wanna sleep."
"Ross, we gotta talk. Why did you and Ellie break up? Tell me everything."
"Oh no. Not this again." I rolled my eyes.
"Ross, I don't want my best friend to be a lonely old grumpy man for the rest of his life." She patted my shoulder as I groaned, "What did you mean that she chose your best mate over you?"
"Long story short, I decided to surprise her and come early from the studio to her apartment. I caught her making out with my best mate, Ethan, and I broke up with her."
"Ross, I'm so sorry."
"Save it. I don't need a girl to be happy. At least I'm gonna have more inspiration for music."
"No. Ross, you're my best friend. I can't watch you just overwork at your job just because a girl cheated on you." She protested.
"All girls are the same." I stated, causing her to be taken aback as she stared at me for a moment before shaking her head.
"Not all girls, trust me. Any girl would be lucky to have you. You're an amazing guy and my best friend. That's why," she paused, standing up from the couch and running to her room before coming back a few minutes later with a notebook and a pen.
"What do you look for in a girl?"
"Well, I want her to be fun and spontaneous." I looked over to see her scribbling down in the notebook as I continued, "She should be intelligent and supportive. Oh, and also she has to be beautiful and cute." Madison looked up at me, arching her eyebrow. I shrugged as she wrote it down and her eyes scanned over the page.
"I'll find you someone perfect."
So here is my new book that I'll be working on with Writing_Babe! I hope you enjoy it
