Madison's POV
The rehearsal dinner had gone without a hitch, the guests enjoying the food and drinks available. You could see the slight relief on Aubrey and Rocky's faces, mainly Aubrey's. Weddings were the most stressful for the bride to be; they wanted every detail to be absolutely perfect. They didn't want anything going wrong on what was supposed to be the greatest day of their lives.
But it was now the day of the wedding, and things were a bit...hectic. Everyone a part of the wedding was running around, making sure everything was ready and in place. The ceremonies would begin at around three in the afternoon, followed by the reception. I knew that once the bride and groom would utter their 'I do's', everything would settle down and the craziness would settle down.
The excitement over the wedding had me thinking about mine and Ross' nonexistent one. Yes, we had talked about it, he claimed he wanted to marry me, but who knew when that would happen. The possibility of marrying my best friend, waking up to him every morning and having kids with him had my heart fluttering in my chest. Ever since I was a kid, I had always dreamed about having the perfect wedding and marrying the perfect guy.
Ross was nowhere near whom I imagined.
But from the moment I met him, I just knew he would be in my life forever. I wasn't sure, then, in which shape or form, but I knew we would always be in each other's lives. And now that we were together, talking about being together for the rest of our lives...picturing him in a suit as he stood in front of me at the alter was the easiest thing to do.
A goofy smile appeared on my face, my cheeks turning the slightest tint of red. I was sat in front of the mirror in the bathroom of the hotel, curling my hair as Rydel began to prep my face for makeup. She was already dressed, her makeup applied flawlessly and her hair pinned up halfway as the other half flowed in beautiful waves.
"You're smiling," she commented, raising an eyebrow. "And you're staring at your reflection. Should I be concerned?"
I chuckled, giving a shake of my head. I closed my eyes as she smeared some primer on my face, setting the curling iron down once I was finished. "Just thinking. Weddings turn me into a pile of mush."
"Ah, another hopeless romantic." She nodded.
"Another?"
"Ross," she clarified. "He's total hopeless romantic."
Flashes of our trial date popped in my head, the beautiful fairy lights and delicious dinner. Yeah, he was definitely a hopeless romantic.
"Have you been thinking about marriage?" She caught my eye through the reflection, giving me a knowing look, like she already knew the answer.
"Honestly? Yes," I bit my lip, resisting the urge to run my fingers through my hair. "But, I mean, it's crazy. We haven't been together that long, so how can I already think of marriage?"
She coaxed me to close my eyes, beginning to apply the foundation. "Have you guys talked about the future at all?"
"Yeah. H-He actually said he wants to marry me."
I didn't have to have my eyes open to know that her own had widened in surprise. "If he said that, than why are you doubting yourself?"
I released another sigh. "I wish I had the answer."
"I think you're just scared," she explained. "The topic of marriage is a bit frightening for anyone, no matter how long they've been together. Rocky and Aubrey have been together for three years, and while they were planning the wedding, they both had spontaneous doubts. But they worked through them together, and now here we are. Getting ready for their wedding."
