Madison's POV
I squinted my eyes as they scanned the local bar, searching for anyone that could be a potential match for Ross. I tapped my pen against the notepad-old school, but whatever- getting ready to write any notes I needed. I felt like a dating site, finding potential matches for the boy I lived with.
Did all best friends do this?
I caught sight of a skinny brunette at the end of the bar, sipping on what looked like a martini. With her delicate hand, she brought the glass up to her lips, taking a slow sip. With a sigh, I placed my notepad and pen in my purse and made my way over to the pretty girl. I hope she doesn't think I'm gonna hit on her, I thought.
I cleared my throat, effectively catching her attention. "Hi," I smiled.
Though she looked confused, her eyebrows furrowing, she gave me a smile in return. "Hi. Do I know you?"
I shook my head. "No. I'm Maddie."
"Julia." She shook my outstretched hand. "So, Maddie, what can I do for you?" She raised an eyebrow.
At least she had manners. That was a plus.
"This is going to sound strange, but how would you like to go out on a date with a really great guy?" Blurting out the question probably wasn't the best way to do it, but this was my first time trying to set someone up.
Did I mention I was nervous?
I thought she would storm out as she laughed, but she did the exact opposite. She smiled. "How great are we talking? And do you have a picture? I once went out on a blind date with this guy, and my friend decided to leave out the fact that he was still in high school. And was a Star Wars fanatic. He actually showed up wearing nothing but clothes from the movie."
I scrunched my nose up at the image in my head. "I can promise you that he is not in high school and his taste in clothing is top notch." Pulling out my phone, I clicked on the picture of Ross and I that his sister had taken for us. We were at the park, being childish as we swung on the swings. We were mid-laugh, but our smiles were wide.
She let out a whistle, her eyes widening. "Hot damn. That is one hot piece of man."
"His name is Ross. He's the sweetest man alive." I told her, smiling softly as I stared at the picture. "He's smart, caring...and do you see his hair? It's like touching a cloud."
She took a sip from her drink, nodding. "I would definitely run my fingers through it all day."
You could see the lust in her eyes, her bottom lip wedged between her teeth.
"So, what do you say? Will you go on a date with him?"
"Definitely." She replied. Grabbing a napkin, she wrote down her phone number and slid it to me. "Tell him to give me a call."

I waited anxiously for Ross to get home, Julia's phone number burning a hole in my pocket. He had been out with his siblings all day, and I didn't want to tell him I found a girl over the phone. While I waited for his return, I lounged out on the couch, nursing a glass of wine as I watched TV.
"What a great Saturday night." I muttered, shaking my head. "I'm gonna be alone forever."
I hadn't been with anyone since my freshman year of college, that relationship ending before the year even finished. I had wanted to focus on my studies, and having a boyfriend wasn't going to help. But now I was out of college and alone.
There were nights where I was desperate for someone's touch, their lips on my skin as their hands gripped my waist with such a soft and delicate touch. I missed the feeling of my heart fluttering, my cheeks flushing a deep shade of red.
