Madison's POV

The next day after Ross's first awful date, I knew I had to step up the game to not disappoint him after the first date that I set him up on. Today, I decided to look for the perfect girl at Starbucks, searching for a moment before coming over to the counter and ordering a quick coffee as I noticed a tall blonde next to me.

"Hey, um, can we talk real quick?"

She glanced over at me, furrowing her eyebrows in confusion, "I'm Lily, and you are?"

"Maddie. I just need to talk to you; it'll only take a second."

She shrugged then nodded as she grabbed her order and we sat at a table as I started speaking, "I know this will sound extremely weird, but would you go on a date with a really awesome guy? He's really caring and sweet."

She thought for a moment, "Hmm, why not? Have you got a picture of this awesomeness?" She released a soft chuckle as I nodded, grabbing my phone, finding a picture of Ross laughing and showing it to her - the same one I had been showing for the past week.

She whistled as I gave her a disgusted look. Why was every girl that I attempted to set Ross up with, ended up whistling at the sight of him? Yes, he had a heartwarming smile and his features all were just so perfectly crafted together by God himself, not even mentioning his soft hair. But none of these girls seemed to notice his incredibly amazing personality. Being his best friend, that's what I loved about him. He really did deserve someone as perfect for him.

I sipped on my coffee as she nodded eagerly, smiling sweetly. I returned the smile and we ended up talking for another 15 minutes, which involved her telling me about myself and me telling her about Ross.

Hopefully, this one was going to go better than the previous one.

I flicked through the newest fashion magazine, sighing in awe at all of the red-carpet outfits when I heard the front door unlock. It was only 6:30. I heard my name being called and I shouted back, "I'm in my room!" Ross trudged into my room, holding a beer bottle in his hand, groaning as he threw himself onto the bed next to me, just as I grabbed the bottle out of his hand and put it on my side, out of his reach.

"Are you seriously trying to break the record for coming home earlier from your date every day? Was it that bad?" I set down the magazine on my bedside table, focusing my attention to Ross who scrambled up from the bed, laying his head on my lap and holding my hand in his.

"No, but it was an absolute nightmare." He rubbed his hands over his face in frustration as I played with his hair.

"What happened?" I questioned as he sat up, laying next to me and leaning his head on the wall.

"It all seemed to be going great. I took her to the restaurant on the boardwalk; the one that's always amazingly lit up in the evenings. She looked absolutely beautiful when the light shined on her and I wanted to kiss her, but she told me she wants to go to my place to hook up so we could be fun buddies. Do I seriously look like that sort of guy who just wants a one-night stand every night? If that's the case then I might have to start doing that." He rested his head on my shoulder, his hair tickling my neck as I wrapped my arms around him, pulling him closer to me.

"Hey, Ross. Look at me," He lifted his head up to face me, "I'm gonna keep saying this again and again. You're an amazing guy and any girl would be lucky to have you. I gotta admit though that your looks do kinda make you seem different. but you can't let that get you down. I hate seeing you so miserable."

Ross rolled his eyes as I gave him a stern look, trying to hold in my laughter. "Smile!" He shook his head, drooping his head as I smiled cheekily to myself, crawling on top of him and starting to tickle him, causing him to burst into giggles when he attempted to stop me from tickling him anymore. As soon as I stopped, he wrapped his arms around my lower waist, letting me rest my head on his chest, feeling his heartbeat right near my cheek.

We stayed like that for a while, cuddling in a comfortable silence as Ross started playing with my hair. He spoke up shortly after, his voice soft. "Maddie?"

"Yes?" I lifted my gaze to meet his as he tucked my hair behind my ear.

"This is just making me wonder, what if we were together?"

I stared at him, my eyes immediately widening at his question. I averted my eyes to the floor, unable to look at him as I spoke. "I-I think we only work out as best friends Ross. I'd hate to ruin that and I honestly can't imagine us together-" I didn't want to admit that I would be alone for the rest of my life, without him near me.

"I know but suppose we were," He lifted my chin to make me look at him, his hazel eyes staring at mine, "Everything would be so," he paused again, inhaling a deep breath as we both whispered the last word in unison.

"Perfect."

I feel like the ending was a bit of an Austin & Ally reference. Who else agrees?
