"It's my birthday, it's my birthday" Belle skips through our living room, singing her birthday song.

"Can't believe she's seven today" I pout, tying balloons to the backs of my dinning room chairs

"I know, the kid won't stop growing" Liam says.

I make my way over to my refrigerator, grazing over the mounds of snacks I have prepared for Belle's party.

"I have no idea how much of this stuff I should put out. Belle is the one who handed out her invitations but I haven't heard anything from any of the parents"

"How many invitations did she give out?" Liam asks, taking a seat on a bar stool at the counter.

"No idea" I shrug "Belle" I raise my voice

"Yeah" Her small feet quickly tap down the hallway and I'm greeted with a chocolate covered smile

"Two questions" I furrow my brow "One" I hold up my finger "How  many invitations did you give out? And two. . . where did you get the chocolate?"

"Uh, two" Belle tries to wipe off the chocolate from around her lips but manages to smudge it further up her face instead "And him" she points to Liam, giving  me the answer to my second question

Liam averts his eyes from mine and takes a sudden interest in my ceiling

I shoot a quick look Liam's way before returning my attention to Belle "Only two invitations?" I tilt my head "Honey I gave you almost twenty to give to your classmates"

"I know" she says

". . .Well?" I pry "Who did you give them to?"

"Louis and Katie" she begins to pick at her fingers, seeming very uninterested in the questions being asked.

"Those are the only people you wanted at your party?" I ask, starting to rethink all the time I spent making finger sandwiches and various snacks made in shapes of beloved movie characters

"Yup" she says, ending her word with a pop of the p

"Hey what about me?" Liam says, "I gave you chocolate, kid"

"Duh you were coming, you didn't need an invitation" Belle rolled her eyes and made the descent back to her room

My arms stretch as I reached for smaller plates to put the food on. "Why would you give my kid chocolate when she is already going to have Cake?"

"Its her birthday, c'mon Lacie" Liam said, helping me move food to the table

"Cake" My eyes widen and I stop in my tracks

"Yes. . .She is going to have cake it's her birthd-"

"I didn't order a cake!" I say, rushing over to set the food down on the table before I dropped my plates on the hardwood floors.

"Lace" Liam laughed

"It's not funny! What kind of mother forgets to order a cake for her daughters birthday?" I say, banging my head against my table

"Well, most moms actually bake the cake themselves for a birthday part-"

I shot a glare so frigid Liam's lips seemingly froze

"I mean-uh. . ."

"Knock knock" Louis announces himself as he walks in holding balloons and a large bag

I don't have it in me to smile, so I just look up at him with a pitiful look residing on my face "Hi"

"Lace, what's wrong?" Louis face quickly wrinkles into a look of worry.
