Mia sat on her bed stumped. She didn't know what to do to prove to Elliott that she was a good person. "Ugh! I don't know what to do!" she yelled in frustration and threw a pillow at the wall.
A picture frame fell on the floor. She sighed and got up to see if the picture frame broke. She picked up the frame and saw that it was fine. She looked at the picture and saw that it was a picture of her, her parents, and her uncle. She looked at her uncle some more and memories rushed through her head.
"I got it!" Mia said.
She put the frame back on the wall and ran to her dresser. She pulled out an outfit that she didn't care about and put it on. She looked at the mirror to figure out what to do with her hair. She pulled her hair in a messy bun and checked herself out. She had on shorts covered in paint from when Tia and Mia wanted to make Tie-Dye shirts. She had on a white tank top with a tiger on it. She went to her closet and put on her black sneakers and grabbed her old messenger bag. She ran downstairs, passing Mrs. Potters. Right when she was about to step outside, she heard Mrs. Potters call her.
"Mia! Aren't you going to eat something?" asked Mrs. Potters with a smile.
Mia groaned and went to the kitchen. She smiled back at Mrs. Potters and gobbled up her food faster than usual. She hoped she wouldn't have a stomach ache later on in the day. She decided to drive today because she didn't want to bother Tia with this. This was too important to her and she would not let anyone mess this up. She wanted Elliott to see the true person she was, kind.

Mia parked her car and walked over to the place. She was in a different part of town so her outfit fit in, but she knew she still stuck out. She walked over to the building and went to the man standing outside the door. The man was in a big jacket that did not fit him at all. He was wearing old sneakers and a big black hat. She sucked in her breath and waved at him.
"Hello young lady. You don't belong here at a soup kitchen. What are you doing here?" said the man suprised.
Mia smiled at him nicely and said, "I know. I came here to help out the people. Is that okay?"
He smiled and said, "Yes you can! No one really comes here except a couple people. We could use all the help we can get. "
He took Mia and showed her where to go and who to ask to help out. Mia went to a short plump lady who looked like a christmas tree. She found it odd since it was the end of August. The lady was in the middle of a conversation so she waited until she was finished. Mia looked around and saw all the families and people in here and instantly felt a pang of sadness in her chest. She just felt so bad for them and wondered how each of them got here. When the lady finished, Mia tapped her on the shoulder so she knew that Mia was there. The lady turned around and shook Mia's hand.
"Hello dear. Are you here to help?" the lady asked her.
Mia shook her head and replied, "Yes I am. I'm Mia and I just really want to help these people and put a smile on these children's faces."
"Aww! Bless your heart! Thank you Mia. I am Eleanor. Follow me." Eleanor said.
Eleanor took Mia to the back and told Mia to wash her hands. Mia washed her hands and put on the hairnet next to the sink. She then put on the apron and put on the gloves. Then, Mia followed Eleanor to the the cafeteria.
"Mia, you can serve the hamburgers. All you do is put the meat on the bun and then put on whatever they want on the burger. Simple as that! Okay?" Eleanor told her.
