"Mom! Dad! I'm home and Mia's with me!" Tia yelled throughout her house.
Mia loved coming to Tia's house. It was the exact opposite of her house. Unlike her parents, Tia's parents actually cared for Tia. They didn't make the maids spend time with her like Mia's did. From the kitchen came Tia's mom.
"Oh honey! You're home! And oh hello Mia honey!" Tia's mom said nicely.
She hugged Tia and Mia and gave them air kisses. She walked with them to the kitchen and took the chef's plates and put the plates in front of them.
"Eat girls Eat! Jasper cooked the best meal today!" she said smiling at Jasper, with his big round belly. Mia smiled and was about to dig in, but then she heard her mother's voice in her head.
'You pig! You have no table manners!'
Mia sighed and slowly ate her food. She was conscious of every bite she took and even counted the amount of bites she took with each bite. 20 bites.
"Mia, are you okay? You seem sad. Is the food okay?" asked Tia's mom.
Mia put a big fake smile on her face, hoping she would not ask anymore questions.
"Nothing is wrong. The food is great Mrs. Buhari. Thanks for the food Jasper."
Mrs. Buhari smiled and walked out the kitchen. Shortly after, the front door closed. What seemed like forever to Mia, she finally finished eating. She looked over to Tia and saw that Tia did not even finish her food.
"Tia! You didn't finish!" shrieked Mia. Mia was shocked. The food was so good. She would know since she took 20 bites of every single bite.
Tia sighed and said. "I am watching my figure. Do you see this beautiful body of mine? I can't just sit down and eat a whole plate of spaghetti. Do you know how much carbs that is ? Like ermawhgawd! I can't!"
Mia tried so hard not to roll her eyes. She could not stand hearing it when Tia called herself fat and watched her 'carb intake.' It remind her of her mom. She put on a fake shocked look and tried to be supportive.
"OMG! I completely forgot about how much carbs that is. And you are so not fat Tia! If you're fat then I am obese! And I know I am not obese so like you're perfect!"
Tia smiled and hugged Mia. Mia finally was able to roll her eyes.
"Let's go try on our clothes girlfriend! We need to see what we are wearing on Saturday!" said Tia.\
Mia was so happy to get off the topic and she was right. They needed to figure out an outfit.
"I'll meet you in your room. I have to go to the bathroom." Tia gave a face to Mia like saying , TMI. Mia just laughed and watched Tia walked off. When Tia was out of the room, Mia took out the necklace out of her cardigan pocket. She took a piece of papertowel off the rack and wiped off the necklace. She couldn't believe how close she was to getting caught with Tia earlier. After she cleaned the necklace, she put it back in her cardigan pocket for safe keeping. There was no way she was losing this again. She smiled to herself knowing that the necklace was back in her hands and Tia did not find out the reason she really had the necklace this whole time.
She did not even know herself why she had this necklace. That was at least what she told herself. Deep down Mia really knew, but was afraid to recognize it herself. She has liked Elliott all these years, but could never admit it because it would ruin everything.
