Nikki the Babysitter

I roll over in bed and kiss Tommy's nose, he's still asleep so he doesn't really notice. He's not snoring which is weird but his leg will twitch every once in a while so my fiancé is pretty deeply sleeping.

Tommy and Melody are both still sick and somehow I haven't picked up their sickness, it's been a couple of days since they got sick and I'm really starting to worry about them. I made an appointment for Melody at the paediatrician but Tommy refuses to go to the doctor, he says he'll drink cough syrup until he feels better.

Melody starts to cry and I get out of bed to go get her. Tommy has been doing this for the past little while and I'm thankful for that but he needs his sleep too. I walk down the hall to her room and my little lamb is standing up in her crib.

"Hey, little lamb." I smile and pick her up. "Did you sleep well?"

I change her diaper and get her dressed for the day. I tote her downstairs, she's starting to get heavy by the way, and I start to feed her breakfast while the coffee machine makes the coffee. Melody eats like a good girl for me and we go back upstairs to get her ready for her doctors appointment.

My baby still doesn't look so good, she's still coughing, sneezing, and wheezing when she breaths which really worried me. That's why I wanted to take her to the doctors, I mean I want Tommy to go to the doctors too but I can't buckle him in a car seat and just take him. I wish I could convince them both to go but I know that's not going to happen.

As I'm packing up her diaper bag the bedroom door opens and I look back. Tommy walks in still wearing his pyjama pants. He comes up behind me and kisses the top of my head.

"Are you feeling better?" I wonder as he hugs me into him.

"Yeah, I still have a wicked cough though." He says and he does sound a lot better.

"Do you still have a fever, baby?" I ask.

"I don't think so." Tommy says and grabs my hand.

My fiancé holds my hand against his forehead, his temperature feels normal and I smile.

"Nope, you're good." I tell him and he laughs.

"Thank god!" Tommy laughs and I smile. "How's Melody feeling?"

"She still has a fever, she's still coughing, and she's still sneezing." I explain. "I'm worried about her."

"I'm sure that she's okay, Katie." He tells me and kisses my cheek. "What's going on after the doctors?"

"I have to go grocery shopping and do laundry and....I feel like there was something else." I rack and my brain and he smiles.

"How about we get Eddie or Alex or someone to babysit? We can redo your birthday." Tommy offers and I smile.

"What if the baby is sick?" I wonder.

"I'm sure they can handle it, Katie." Tommy promises me.

So Eddie and Alex both had plans with their wives so I called the next best thing...Mick was busy too. So I called Nikki, if I'm being honest that kinda worries me but I do trust Nikki.

"I swear to god, Nikki, hurt my daughter and I will kill you." I warn him and he laughs.

"I can manage this, Tommy. I won't drink and I'll take car of your baby. I'm scared of pissing off your little fiancée." The bassist mutters and I laugh. "So what are you and your little psycho doing tonight?"

"Since Melody and I were dying on her birthday we're redoing the whole birthday thing." I explain and he smiles.

"You really love her, huh?" Nikki asks and I nod.

"I mean I'm going to marry her, Nik, and she's the mother of my child." I remind him and he laughs.

"I forgot about that." He jokes and I roll my eyes.

Katie comes downstairs and hands off Melody to Nikki. She explains the antibiotics to the bass player and how often he has to give them to our daughter. Katie makes sure that Nikki knows where all the emergency numbers are which he does and Nikki just smiles and nods, he knows that Katie is worried with the baby being sick and all and Nikki is just playing along.

"Katie, I've got it now have fun." He tells her. "I promise I won't bring any hookers around your daughter."

"Good." She smiles. "Thanks for doing this, Nik."

"Your welcome, now leave." Nikki laughs and I grab my fiancée's hand.

"Come on, see you later, Nik." I say and he smiles.

We walk out to the car and drive away from the house, Katie still looks a really worried and I put my hand on her thigh. She looks over to me and smiles a little bit.

"Don't worry, baby. Everything is going to be fine." I promise her. "Nikki is really good with Melody and always has been."

"Hannah is probably going to be pissed if she finds out we left Melody with Nikki before we left her with her and CC." Katie says.

"Blame it on me, say I don't like CC." I offer and she laughs.

"But you don't like CC, Tommy." She reminds me and I smile.

"Exactly." I laugh. "We're going to have fun tonight." I promise her and she kisses my cheek.

"I love you." Katie whispers and kisses my cheek again.

"I love you too, baby." I tell her and turn to kiss her quickly.

Nikki

"Okay kiddo, you've got to take your medicine now." I tell Melody and she makes a face.

"No, lady." She grumbles, I, definitely not tell Katie that her daughter called me lady again.

"Melody." I try.

"No!" Melody hisses.

"You've got your mommy's attitude." I comment and she laughs. "You're a really sweet kid though, your parents are lucky."
