My Idol's Baby Sister

An Eventful First Day

March 2nd, 1985 at four thirty seven in the afternoon Melody Voula Eugenia Lee was born. She weighed a little less than six pounds and was nineteen inches long. She has little bits of dark hair and dark brown eyes like her daddy. Melody is the most beautiful baby I've ever laid eyes on.

I've never cried so many happy tears before in my life, the moment the doctors placed her in my arms I was crying. I don't even like crying but Melody is a beautiful little creature and we made her, I can't get that through my head.

I was brought back to the recovery room and Melody was taken to be given shots or something but shortly she was returned to Tommy and I. Tommy picked her up out of the little incubator thing and he sits down beside me with our daughter in his arms. I snuggled close to him and Melody held onto my finger.

"She's so beautiful." Tommy says quietly. "I love her so much."

"She's perfect, babe." I whisper. "Just like her daddy."

"Nah, she's perfect like her mommy." He says and kisses our daughters forehead. "I can't believe that she's finally here."

"I know, I'm happy that she won't be kicking my rib cage." I admit and my boyfriend smiles.

"Here." Tommy says and gently hands me our baby. "I'm going to go and get everyone."

Tommy walks out of the hospital room and I smile down at my sleeping baby. I gently bounce her and gently kiss her forehead.

"Hi Melody, I'm your mommy and your daddy and I love you more than anything." I whisper. "You have lots of aunts and uncles and they love you so much too. Your grandparents love you, your Oma and Yia Yia might just smother you but they do it out of love. Your Opa and your Papa are two of the nicest men you'll ever meet. You will always be loved Melody Lee." I promise her as the door opens again.

Tommy leads everyone into the room, with my mum and Tommy's mum directly behind him. My mum takes Melody from my arms and her and Tommy's mum coo all over my baby. My father comes over to me and gently pushes the hair out of my eyes.

"Ik ben zo trots op je, Kathleen." My father tells me that he's proud of me. "Je baby is zo mooi." Then he tells me that my baby is beautiful.

"Bedankt pap." I thank my father and he smiles as he sees Tommy holding our daughter while the mothers coo and make baby noises. "Hij zal een geweldige vader zijn." I say that Tommy is going to be a good father.

"Hou je van hem?" Dad asks me if I love him.

"Natuurlijk doe ik dat, pa." I assure my father by saying of course.

"Ik ben blij dat je gevonden hebt geluk, mijn dochter." My father says that he's happy I've found happiness.

"Bedankt pap."  I thank my father again.

Dad walks away and goes over to Tommy's father who my baby has now been passed to. Tommy comes back over and sits down beside me in the bed, he wraps his arm around my shoulders and kisses my temple.

"What was your old man talking about?" He asks quietly and I smile.

"He just told me that he was happy for us." I explain and he nods.

"Our mothers just said the same thing." Tommy says as my brothers walk up to us.

"Thomas." Eddie says jokingly and holds out his hand to my boyfriend. "Congratulations."

"Thanks." Tommy laughs and shakes his hand.

Eddie then decides to hug me tightly and put his chin on top of my head which makes me laugh.

"You did all the hard work, Katie." He says and kisses the top of my head. "I love you, little one."

"Yeah, I love you too." I say.

Alex shakes Tommy's hand and hugs me like Eddie did. Athena does a similar thing and congratulates us. Vince and Nikki bust in with pink balloons and random stuffed animals, they both hug me tightly and congratulate us loudly (Mick puts his head in his hand when this happens) I may add and they woke up Melody.

"We really didn't mean to wake her up." Nikki says awkwardly as I feed her.

"Don't worry, Nik. By the way she's eating I'd say she was going to wake up shortly." I say.

"Well yeah , I mean it makes sense. The kid is Tommy's after all." He laughs and I smile. "She's a cutie, that doesn't come from Tommy." Nikki says and touches her cheek gently.

Melody finishes her bottle and I look around for the burp cloth thing. I get Nikki to hand it to me because it's out of my reach. I burp her and look over at the bass player.

"Want to hold her before Hannah, Athena, Kelly, or Valerie cash in Auntie rights?" I wonder and he smiles.

"Yeah, I'm cashing in Uncle Nikki rights." Nikki says happily and gently takes her from my arms. "Am I holding her right?"

"Yeah, you're doing good. Just remember to keep her head up." I say and he nods.

"You're doing great, Nik." Tommy says and sits back down beside me.

"Yeah, we're gonna raise hell when you can walk." The bass player tells our daughter and I smile.

Nikki walks over to my sister in laws and Hannah walks up to Tommy and I with CC. I scowl and Tommy's grip gets a little tighter around me. Hannah smiles and grabs my hand.

"Congratulations you guys, Melody is beautiful." She says sweetly and I smile when she elbows her boyfriend. "Don't you have something to tell them?"

"Uh, yeah. I'm sorry about everything I said about you guys being irresponsible and hypocrites." He says while looking at his feet. "You two will be good parents."

"Oh thank you." Tommy says. "I mean not like we needed your approval but we appreciate the motive."

After everyone goes back home and Katie falls asleep, I just sit on the chair beside her bed and my gaze bounces between my sleeping girlfriend and my sleeping daughter. Katie was beat after giving birth and then everyone meeting Melody for the first time, I don't blame her for wanting to sleep.

Melody wakes herself up and starts to cry, I quickly pick her up so she doesn't wake up her mom. I hold my daughter in my arms and she looks up at with with brown eyes like mine and I smile.

"I promise you right now, I will always love you and your mommy more than anything else on this planet. I promise that I will marry your mom one day, I just got to get up enough balls to ask your Opa, your uncle Alex, and your uncle Eddie first. I love you so much Melody Voula Eugenia Lee." I say and kiss her cheek.

Melody has had an eventful first day, the first of many. She's going to have an interesting life.
