"So, four days with us. Are we tolerable?" Wen joked as he came into my room, as I was reading a message from Master Vulkri.
"Just barely." I joked back and sat up, brushing my bangs out of my face.
"Well, I was wondering if you were hungry. Zart made food." He motioned behind him with his thumb, "I figured you hadn't eaten yet."
"Sure. I'll come." I smiled and got up, and followed him to the small common room, where Gor was sitting on one of the only two chairs, out of the way, while Anoles put the ship in park mode in space in the control room next to us and joined in.
Khau's screeching followed by Greenie's beeps of anger echoed through the mostly silent ship, as the rest of us got some food that Z handed out.
Z had made a meiloorun melon gumbo, the melon extra ripe, and tart, followed by the sweet sauce made from Mandalorian Oranges that filled the center.
He handed me mine, and I nodded a thanks and took a bite with my spoon and smiled. "This is really good. I've never tasted anything like it."
"I'm glad you like it." He smiled, as Gor made sounds that sounded like that he enjoyed it as well, since I was still learning to understand him.
Wen chuckled. "Same big guy. You should cook more Z. You're skilled at it. More than us."
"I kinda had to learn my way around the roots and stuff back on Swoth." He shrugged. "Otherwise, the plants would eat me."
"I understand." Anoles nodded, before Greenie rolled in, warbling like crazy.
"What do you mean there's a giant ship above us?" I asked, confused, knowing Droid well enough.
"It's a star destroyer. Quickly. Shut off all systems so they don't detect us." Anoles ordered and ran to the control room to do so, while Wen tried to force Greenie to shut down.
"Yes, I know you hate being shut down, but if you don't they'll find us." He hissed, as Greenie beeped angrily. "I'll turn you back on when they're gone, I promise!" He finally got the droid off.
I ran to the command room as Gor climbed into one of the cannons on top of the ship, ready to fire if needed, as Wen took the other one.
It was completely silent, as Anoles and I stared out the command center window, and the star destroyer loomed over us.
I had very few memories of them from when I was a kid, and they belonged to the Republic.
"Everything is off, right?" Anoles whispered, the only sound in the whole ship as Khau climbed up her leg onto her shoulder, his long tail twitching.
I nodded, and kept watching as it kept moving towards the planet closest to us, Jesmonoe, a lush, soon to be purse world, if we didn't stop it.
" If the Empire takes Jesmonoe, not only would it have more resources of life with oxygen and other metals, it would harvest the rare metals from its ring...." Anoles muttered.
"Then we have to do something." I muttered, and looked at the controls. In a heartbeat, I was in the pilot's seat, and turning on the ship.
"Oi! Get out of my seat! Hands off my controls." Anoles shouted, when Zart ran in.
"They spotted us anyways! Get us out of here!" He shouted, as I forced the controls of the ship to make it fly towards the lush, green planet with silver rings and the one moon orbiting just outside the rings.
"What are you doing?! They'll capture us down there!" Anoles tried to get me out of the seat, as my knuckles turned white from gripping the steering wheel too tightly.
I stayed silent until I landed, and shut off the ship. "I'm not letting them take another planet." I got up and gripped my lightsaber and stormed to the docking bay.
Gor grabbed me in a hug from behind, stopping me. He growled something worried.
"Gor, put me down." I didn't struggle, knowing his fur would suffocate me if I did.
"Mira," Wen got in front of me as he put me down. "There's a reason we're a team. We work together. One doesn't run off to be hero. We're Rebels to the Empire Rule. The few of us to them need to band together."
"I know Wen. But I am used to working alone." I sighed as he stroked his greying goatee.
"Then let us help." Zart and Anoles came in, followed by Greenie, with Khau on Anoles's shoulder, his favorite spot.
"And don't touch my ship controls again." Anoles's waved her finger to scold me.
"Fine. Let's go get em." I smiled in defeat.
"Greenie, Khau, you know the protocol." Wen told them, and turned to us. "Anoles, you're with me. Zart, Gor, and Mira, you go scout ahead to where they are landing."
"Got it." We nodded and headed out, walking through the forest with the trees and shrubbery covering Gor's white fur, and Z and mine tan and brown clothing.
