I stayed close to Alennaa, my hands on the two sabers below my cloak as we slipped through the alleys, the two of us in the lead with the others close behind us.
"The stormtroopers are up ahead." Alenna whispered back to me, before walking to the center of our large group. "Team one and two, go east. Three and four, west. Five and six, come up from the south, the rest of us will come from the North." She ordered and the 18 bounty hunters broke into groups of three, while Alennaa and the four of is from the Rainstorm stayed where we were.
Alennaa waited for the other groups to get into their positions, as if they had already made a plan without us there.
I grabbed my saber tightly and nodded at Z, Wen, and Gor.
Z had a grin and twirled his blaster around his finger, as Wen held a heavy rifle and shock grenade ready. Gor held a giant pulse cannon which he had taken from Alennaa's stockpile on his shoulder, and what seemed like a happy smirk under the fur.
Alennaa gave the signal, and the other teams moved forward towards the stormtroopers with our group close behind the princess.
Taking out my saber, I powered on both sides and spun it around, creating an illusion-like circle shield to protect us from the incoming blaster fire. "Z!" I stopped spinning it long enough for him to fire his blaster and hit the ones closest to us, as I striked some down. "I need your help with something!"
"Whatever you need, name it!" He shouted, and fired, dodging a fire.
"Combo fifteen!"
He froze, firing at a trooper and killing him without looking. "Are you sure?! You said it was really dangerous!"
"Just get ready!" I blocked some blasts from hitting Alenna, as he sighed and told Wen something before getting his hands together, ready for me to step on them.
I ran over and stepped on them before he flung me into the air. Getting a quick scan of the area, I propelled myself higher than he could throw by using the force. I used my saber, and flung it on a crumbling building, the blades cutting through the last support beam as it crumpled down onto a large group of the Empire's troops and blocking them from getting more reinforcements.
I summoned my saber back to me, but was starting to fall too fast, as it went flying over my head. It landed at Alennaa's feet, too far for me to summon before I crashed into the ground. The princess of Oya picked it up and looked up at me, terrified for my life.
Utterly petrified, I was unable to use the Force to slow my descent.
"Mira!" I faintly heard Wen shout, as Gor roared and Z shouting something. Seconds later, I felt something heavy hit me, and cling onto me.
Z shoved my lightsaber into my hand, and I snapped back into reality, using the force and my saber to cushion our fall before we were flat as a screen.
"Mi... Mi are you ok?" Z asked worried, checking me for any injuries.
"I'm fine. What happened?" I got up, and dusted the sand off of myself.
"You froze and Gor threw me at you to snap you out of it and get your saber back to you."
"We gotta hurry back." I gripped my saber before suddenly noticing he had dropped his blaster or left it with Wen. I grabbed the second saber of my belt and powered it up, the yellow glowing blade growing. "You held yourself well against Darth Vader, and he's a master. Thing you can hold yourself against hundreds of stormtroopers?" I handed it over to him as he looked surprised before he started smiling.
"I'm up for it."
"Just watch where you are swinging it." I smiled softly. We ran back to where Wen and Gor were protecting Alennaa, though she was holding her own.
"Thank the stars you two are alright." Wen sighed relieved upon seeing us and gave us both one armed hugs as he kept firing.
"We need to retreat!" The togruta princess shouted, as she saw many of the bounty hunters fall.
Suddenly hearing static in my com, I winced in surprise, seeing the others doing the same.
"Need some air support?" A voice came through as a familiar ship flew overhead, gunning down a large group of troops.
"Of course Anoles." Wen laughed, "Glad to have you back!"
"I may hate what you do, but I am not leaving my crew behind. Never again." I could almost feel her smile, before seeing a trooper sneaking up behind Alenna. "Your majesty! Watch out!" I shouted, blocking a blast before realizing that he had fired twice and I had only blocked the second one.
I turned around right as Alennaa crumpled to the ground, shot right in the heart and dead upon impact.
The troopers fled as Anoles sent another volley of explosives, and the remaining bounty hunters were surrounding the fallen princess.
Time moved quickly for me, and before I knew it, I was back on the Rainstorm and we were out of Oya's orbit. Anoles was gently patching me up with a sad look in her eyes.
"Anoles?" I whispered.
"Shhhh. It's ok."
"How long have I been staring into outer space?"
"Eight hours... You haven't muttered a word since..." She sighed. "Oya has been liberated from the Empire, but they also lost. Alennaa Zander is dead."
"I failed...." I hung my head.
"No, you tried. Please don't beat yourself up. Please. Wen is trying not to cry, though I don't know how much longer he can, Thousands die everyday through the universe, whether it be by the Empire, the Rebellion, their own antics, or their daily lives. We can't save everyone, but we can try." She pulled me into her arms, trying to let me know that it was ok to cry.
"Thanks for coming back Anoles...." I soon whispered, shaking ever so slightly.
"Of course, I'm just glad that you are alright." She gently kissed my hair, "Because you guys are the only family I have ever had, and the only one I will ever have." She smiled as the door to the room opened, revealing Z.
Anoles got up and left, leaving the two of us alone.
"Hey, you ok?" He asked, sitting down next to me.
"Physically, bruised. Mentally and Emotionally? I feel like I failed," I sighed before punching his arm. "It hurt when you tackled me in midair."
He chuckled and rubbed his arm where I had punched him. "Sorry. Better than you being a pile of goo. I got something for you." He took out the lightsaber I had given him and put it in my hands. "Bero Cupn's lightsaber."
"Z..."
"No, you need it more than I do. I'm clumsy with swords."
"You are kidding me right? For a guy who wasn't trained to use the lightsabers or the force, you were graceful out there! You should keep it, in case you lose your blaster again. I can teach you a few tricks, but at least keep it."
"You sure? I mean, I don't want to be any trouble."
"Trouble is my middle name." I smiled.
He grinned. "No kidding? I thought it was danger!" He teased.
"Oh shut up! I don't really know!"h
