Tyler was awoken by the sound of buzzing.

He looked over to his nightstand and reached for his phone, about to flick the silent on and go back to sleep, but instead, he read one of the messages.

"Fag."

Tyler's eyes darkened and he looked at all of his messages, which all said "Image Attached" and a comment like "ewww disgusting" or "faggot alert".

He opened the first one, which was from one of his basketball teammates. It was a picture of two guys sitting together, holding hands, and resting their heads together.

The caption was: "Wow, Joseph. Didn't know you were a faggot."

Tyler looked closer at the picture and saw the familiar setting. He realized it was him and Josh. And someone got a picture.

He scrolled through the messages, his hands shaking.

He stood up and put his phone down, looking at the mirror.

His mom stormed into his room, looking furious.

"What is this?" She said, holding her phone up to his face.

He saw the picture.

"Are you gay?"

"N-no!"" Tyler lied. Josh had stopped getting bullied ever since Tyler started staying at his side.

"You're holding his HAND!" His mother shouted.

"We're close friends!"

"Oh yeah? What's his name? Why haven't I heard about him before."

"His name is Josh. He's just gets really attached to people," he lied.

"Actually," he heard his brother walk in the room.

"Tyler's with him everyday. Josh is the gay boy."

His mom gasped.

"Are you dating this boy?"

Tyler scoffed.

"No! He's just a friend!" He protested.

"I can't believe you! How will the church react?! How will your father react?!"

"Mom! He is JUST A FRIEND!" Tyler yelled.

"We'll talk about this later," his mother said angrily, storming out of his room. His brother followed her, slamming his door.
