Shasawna

I always picked the cheeriest places to stay. Dark and damp places, those are the best to choose. Finally, after a few hours I’d settled on a small cave that was secluded.

Water dripped from the ceiling continuously, slowly making me go crazy. Although there is not much more I can do, I am already half insane! Insane and unpredictable, that is how I have survived all these years. Try it sometime, it really works.

An eerie light drifted into the cave from the small round entrance to my right. The newly fallen darkness crept its way into my cave, blowing wind right into my fire. Just my luck, the world is out to make me miserable. The flame flickered, wavering back and forth as if to taunt me with its warmth.

“Shardas,” I shouted for my pet, “I need light! I’m working!” I commanded, just as the pile of sticks that lit my tiny fire, crackled and dimmed.

My pet lazily crawled from the black drenched depths of the cave, swinging his head back and forth grudgingly. With one swift movement fire shot from his mouth and separated into tiny orbs of light, floating around the room like fireflies on a starry night.

“Good little wizard,” I spat sarcastically, tapping the top of the creature’s head with force. “Now, on to the important things that I must do. Do me a favor, would you?” I snickered to myself, knowing that the stupid thing had no choice, “Go get me my orb, you moron. I’m in a terrible hurry.”

Shardas crawled towards the fire on his stubby legs, flicking his tail to make my orb, a large glass ball, appear beneath it. He slowly rolled it to me, flicking his tongue in disgust.

“Took you long enough.” I raised the orb up into the light, moving it closer to one of the fires that lit the room. Placing my hand on the top, I concentrated on the location of the sisters. The icy sensation fluttered through my arm, crawling up until it reached the middle of my chest and chilled my heart. That is how I knew that it was working.

Opening my eyes, I cackled at the sight. Foolish girls. They actually went out into public, guarded by whom? That stupid guard of Atira’s. He was difficult to get through, no doubt, but it wouldn’t be hard with the help of that Night boy with them. Letting out another loud, booming cackle, I studied my magical orb carefully. “Shardas!” I screamed, “Prepare me a disguise potion! We’re going out!”

This house was strange and bright, unlike anything I’d seen. It had a large sign on it that said “Grocery”, surely it belonged to a witch as well.

If these foolish girls went to see another witch to fix my curse, there will be brutal consequences. This witch, “Grocery” as she may call herself, will pay as well. I’m really starting to wonder why she would so openly put her name out there, any other witch could quickly identify and raid her of everything she owned. She is probably too foolish to own anything of expense.
