Katherines pov
I lay in my bed thinking about how summer just started and I needed to do something with my friends. My best friend is Dakotah king, she's pretty cool. I live with my mom and little brother, my dad isn't in the picture anymore. I live in a town in California called Sacramento, it's pretty nice here.
As I'm thinking my mother's phone rings and she's quick to answer it. I can hear her in the kitchen but I can't make out any words she's saying. I decided to put my ear buds in and listen to Ron pope drop in the ocean. I shut my eyes and took in the lyrics.
My mother busted into my room and said the words that just ruined my life.
"Start packing my dear, I'm sorry, I just got offered a better job in Australia. We leave in a week."
