Chapter 1

Keith walked inside his home. Lance's mom had just dropped him off from the beach. His dark hair was still dripping wet.
The house was quiet.
And empty.

All furniture that had been there when Lance picked him up was gone. The couch, the dining table, even the fridge.

"Mommy?", Keith called out, his eyes widening in worry, "Daddy?"

Nobody answered. The house was completely empty.

Except for his bedroom, which was completely untouched.

"Where are you?", Keith began to wail.

Keith was hit in the face with a pillow. He jolted up, long raven hair plastered to his face from sleeping.

His foster brother Takashi, or Shiro, glared at him from the doorway.

"Get up or you're going to be late", Shiro said. He left.

Keith rolled over, groaning.

Just a few more minutes....

A book hit him in the head this time. He jumped out of bed.

"WHAT?!"

His foster sister, Allura, shot him a look from the doorway now.

"You heard Shiro!", she shot, "Get up!!"

After she left, Keith sat down on the edge of the red-sheeted bed. He ran a hand through his hair.

Only one week, he thought, And they're already driving me insane.

Keith's former foster parents gave him up, saying he was too difficult for them. He was placed in care of an old man named Coran Altea.

Coran was.... strange, to say at the least, but he was kind enough to take Keith in.

Coran already had his orphaned niece Allura in his care. Her parents died in a fire.

Shiro was abducted as a child, and was never claimed by his real parents.

Keith was abandoned by his parents. Straight out of the blue. No goodbye,  kiss my ass, nothing.

They just left.

Keith was torn in two. He was taken to foster parent to foster parent. Now here he was, in a town only five miles from where it all started.

Peachy. Just freaking peachy.

He got up and changed out of his sleepwear, putting on the usual black t-shirt and red jacket.

He reached for his hairbrush.

"KEITH!!!", Allura shrieked, "YOU'RE GOING TO BE LATE!"

Screw the hairbrush.

He slung his book bag over his shoulder and ran out of the room, combing his hair with his fingers.

He ran into Coran at the bottom of the stairs.
"Sorry Coran", Keith started to say, but the older man cut him off.

"Keith, my boy? What in earth are you doing up this early? Usually it's only Shiro and Allura awake at this time", he asked, twirling his carrot-colored mustache.

"What?", Keith asked, flustered. Then he saw the grandfather clock at the end of the hallway.

5:07 AM.

Shiro walked by with a satisfied smile, and patted Keith's shoulder. It finally settled in to Keith.

"You lied to me just to get me up?!?", Keith asked angrily.

Allura skipped by.
"Can't have you actually late on your first day of school!", she smiled.

Someone help me.
