"Mommy!", little Lance called while charging through the house. He ran into her arms.
"Can Keith come over today? Please, Mommy?!", he pleaded. Mrs. Mcclain's smile disappeared as she looked into the eyes of her grinning son.
Tears welled in her eyes.

Lance could see her sadness.
"What's wrong, Mommy?"

She mustered a sad smile and stroked her young son's head.

"I'm sorry dear, but we can't see Keith anymore..."

Lance's eyes widened, "Why not?"

"Because he moved away. "

He stamped his feet in protest.
"But he can't! I have to see him!", he shrieked.

Mrs. Mcclain hugged her son tightly.
"I'm sorry honey.."

Lance sobbed into his mother's arms.

"We were supposed to be together forever..."

Lance sprinted out of the door, his book bag over one shoulder, his dark green jacket on his arm, and a phone to his ear.

"Bye Mom!", he called back towards his house. He nearly tripped over a skateboard, but managed to keep running down the street.

"Hey Hunk, you still there?", he asked into the phone.

"Yeah. Where are you?!", Hunk asked from the other end of the line.

Lance, still sprinting, was scrambling to get his jacket on.
"I slept in a little, okay?"

"A little? Man, you're about to be late!"

"Don't you think I know this?!?"

"Wow. This isn't unusual for you Lance", a different voice said.

Lance glared at his phone.
"PIDGE YOU STAY OUT OF THIS!"

"Whatever", Pidge said.
"Sorry man, but breakfast is calling me", he said, "See you in class."

"See ya later Hunk", Lance said and hung up. He shoved the phone in his pocket.
He finally managed to get his jacket and book bag completely on, and headed down the sidewalk in a full-on sprint.

C'mon.
Mom's going to kill me if I'm late on the first day of senior year!

He dodged a group of little kids.

He was panting, starting to run out of breath.

Just a little further...

Ooh, who's that?

A young woman in a purple button-up shirt was talking to a mustached man outside of a large house.

Lance could recognize the curly white hair anywhere.

"HEY ALLURA!", he shouted,  waving both arms.

Allura Altea turned around and saw Lance. She smiled and waved.
"Hey!"

Lance smirked.

Still looks as good as ever, he thought, looking at her.

Lance, currently distracted by the female, toppled over something.

Or someone, judging from the angry groans.

He rolled over, rubbing his head. Son of a bitch,  that's going to hurt for a while, he thought painfully.

He stood up, and dusted himself off.
He recognized Shiro, one of his old classmates.

He still looks the same, Lance thought, looking at Shiro's black t-shirt and jacket, and his black and white hair.

But who is that?

Shiro helped someone up. Another boy, and by the look on his face, the one Lance ran into.

I haven't seen him before.

The new boy angrily brushed off his red jacket before turning to glare at Lance with a pair of navy blue eyes. His longish raven hair was a mess now.

"Why don't you watch where you're going, bean pole!", the dark haired boy shot.

Lance scoffed.
"Me? Maybe you should watch where you're standing, Mullet!"

They were in each other's face now. The boy was slightly shorter than Lance, but the murderous look in his eyes made up for the height difference.

"What did you just call me?", the boy growled.

"Hey, that's enough out of you both!", Shiro barked, and yanked them apart. The mullet boy crossed his arms, still glaring at Lance.

Lance returned the glare with full force.

"Come on, we don't want to be late", Shiro said to the boy, and led him away with a hand on his shoulder.

Who does he think he is?, Lance thought bitterly, staring them down.
And what kind of an insult is bean pole? I mean, come on!

Lance took off running down the street again.
