"1 hour! I have to be ready in 1 hour and I can't decide which dress to wear!"
I was currently sitting beside all of my unworn clothes that Melinda bought me while I was in Toronto with them.
"Geez how much stuff did she buy you?"
"Well pretty much 5, 10, 7, and 8 of everything. I can't find anything with all of these clothes. Help!"
"Okay Okay. Now aren't you bringing a change of clothes to wear after y'all go dancing?"
"Yea. I'm taking him to the pier and then the beach."
"Okay so I'll pick out those outfits and you can pick out your dress."
"Thank you!"
I handed her a huge bag filled with clothes and she took it in her room to start sorting through it. In less than 10 minutes she came back with a cute beach bag filled with my second outfit.
"I'm done, and you're gonna love it!"
I pulled out a dress that caught my eye and held it up to earn a squeal from Danielle.
She pulled me up from the floor and pushed me out of my room and into the bathroom before she took the dress and hung it up on my bedroom door.
"Be out of that shower in half an hour or less. I'm doing your making and hair."
I hurriedly turned the shower water on and thanked God silently that I didn't have communal showers before I hopped into the semi-hot water. It heated up more as time passed, and I was out in about 20 minutes which was a record time for me.
While I was in there I made sure to wash my hair with a different scent of shampoo and shave my legs. I hopped out and wrapped myself in a bright blue towel before I proceeded to brush my teeth and brush my hair so it wouldn't be so tangled when she tried to do it.
Once I was sure that my teeth were as white as I could possibly get them, I opened the bathroom door and the cool breeze of the rest of the dorm hit my shoulders.
I rushed into the safety of my bedroom to find Danielle already ready with my blowdryer, flatiron, and curler heating up.
"Ok we have 18 minutes and 24 seconds to make you look incredible."
I had my eyes closed for most of it, because she said she wanted it to be a surprise.
After 15 minutes, my makeup and my dress were on and I still had a few minutes to spare.
I ran into the kitchen to grab my shoes before I fastened the small buckle on the back.
I ran into the bathroom and I looked in the mirror before I noticed my scars on my right arm and shoulder.
"Danielle can you come here?"
I heard her shuffling, probably trying to get herself through the mountains of clothes that I had before she came through the small bathroom door to look at me.
"Can you cover these with make up please?"
Her eyes landed on the scars before she looked up at me again with slumped shoulders.
"I don't think you should. If you keep trying to push the past away and pretend like it never happened you won't ever move on. I say you let everyone see them."
