"Okay what's your favorite food?"
"French fries."
"Good one...I love caviar."
I looked at him with a blank expression on my face before he started laughing.
"I'm kidding I hate it. It tastes like rotten eggs. My favorite food is technically pizza."
I kept the look on my face before we both started laughing.
It was currently the next day around 2 p.m, and we were sprawled across the couch playing 20 questions.
Let's take you back a few hours...
4 hours earlier...10 A.M
My entire body felt like it was being suffocated. I wiggled around, but I couldn't move a muscle and it was starting to irritate me.
Sunshine filled the open room, so I squinted my eyes and looked at Luke's arms around me. I began to think about what he told me well, sleeping me, last night and wondered whether I should mention it or not. I don't think I will, because I don't wanna make this trip awkward between his family and I. I turned around slightly so that I was facing him and ran my thumb across his cheek.
His mouth was slightly parted while he slept so I kissed him and he started to wake up. I closed my eyes pretending to be asleep, because I technically was still supposed to be angry at him. I felt his eyes on me, and I tried so hard not to smile. He kissed my forehead, and my heart it was on fire. I needed to make this believable.
I shifted closer to him and rested my head deeper into his chest so my cheeks wouldn't be visible to him, so if I did laugh he wouldn't be able to see it. His arms came around my waist, and I listened to the sound of his heart beating.
It was steady and calm, it sounded at ease. I almost really did drift back asleep from the feeling of his warm chest and the sound of his heartbeat. I was lulled to sleep before his phone began to ring.
"Hello?"
I heard silence before Luke started speaking again. I wrapped my arms around him so he couldn't get out of the bed, so he stayed put trying not to wake me up. His heartbeat accelerated rapidly, and I blinked my eyes open slightly, and saw that the caller-I.D was from a Gabrielle. His arms stayed around me, so the phone was being pushed up by his shoulder to his ear.
"No!"
I shifted again, because I kinda jumped when he unexpectadly shouted.
If I knew one thing about Luke it was that he never shouted unless he was really angry. The Luke that I know wouldn't just shout if it wasn't important especially if I was 'asleep' underneath him. This time he whispered instead of yelling.
"You listen to me. I told you I was done. I'm in my bed with my girl sleeping beside me, and I don't plan on leaving her here to wake up alone. So I suggest you find someone else to go to that damn board meeting you got it. I don't have to do anything you say...not anymore."
He let out a loud sigh after he hung up the phone, and set it on the sheets.
'Who is Gabrielle?'
I felt bad about being mad at him, so if he told me the truth when I asked him about who was on the phone then I would drop it, but if not then I'm leaving.
He kissed me on my cheeks, and I stirred awake. He smiled at me softly before I saw a flash of guilt form in his eyes.
"Good morning."
