I woke up and the familiar scent of my sheets filled my nose.

"Girl wake up!"

Danielle jumped on my bed and crawled on top of me. I groaned and turned to my side.

"It's 3am go back to sleep."

"Please I need to tell you something important."

"What is it?"

I mumbled from underneath the stuffiness of my pillow.

"Josh just gave me a promise ring!"

I was fully alert and  jumped up despite my aching back.

"He did WHAT! Omg I'm so happy for you!"

I squealed and started laughing when I saw how giddy she was.

"Now we both have one...We're twinsies!"

I got up and hugged her tightly. I opened my eyes and saw Luke standing there wide eyed. I froze before the palms of my hands trembled.

"Was it from Michael?"

Dani pulled away once she heard his voice and looked at me. She whispered in my ear not so softly,  "You didn't tell him? Oh Alex..."

"No, she didn't."

He walked away before I went after him. I had to run to catch up to him. When I left my door I noticed a boquet of flowers in the trash.

'When had he gotten those?'

I picked up speed, and when I caught up to him I grabbed onto his wrist but he flung me away.

"Please, don't be mad."

"About what? That he gave you a promise ring. It looks like you've already made up your mind of who you wanna be with. I'm not sticking around just to be embarrassed."

"I haven't made up my mind. He gave it to me as a gesture. I never accepted it."

"Well you looked really excited just a minute ago. Do you think this is a game? Did you really not care about me enough to tell me?"

"Like you cared enough about me to tell me about your psycho bitch wife and your daughter?"

I knew I hit a spot and he clenched his jaw in frustration.

"I didn't want to tell you, because I didn't want you to react like this."

"Like what? I'm not mad I'm just disappointed."

"YOU ARE MAD OR YOU WOULDN'T HAVE STORMED OUT LIKE THAT."

I'm glad we were the only people on campus because if anyone else were here I would've woken them up.

"Forget it."

He started to walk away, but I grabbed his wrist again.

"Where are you going? It's like 3 in the morning."

"Back to my dorm."

"No you're not Luke. I know how much it hurts right now, but you can't keep running away from your problems."

"Says who? I can do whatever I want."

'Damn his stubbornness.'

"Fine. You can honestly leave if you tell me that you hate me, and you never want to see me again."
