Bucky was happy. He was now a vital member of the Avengers and got along with (most) of the others. He also had his best girl by his side; you.  However on one, slightly cloudy, day you feared that may all come tumbling down.

"Hey, doll." Bucky entered the living room you were currently in before placing a gentle kiss to your cheek and moving into your bedroom. You followed him in and sat on your bed whilst he disarmed and put away his weapons.

"How was your day?"

"Fine but it's just this new mission bugging me." It was a usual thing for Bucky to talk to you about work despite the supposed 'confidentially agreement' that no one seemed to follow.

You raised your eyebrows, gesturing for him to continue. "I think she's some kind of vigilante. Valkyrie?"

Your pulse quickened slightly and you had to remain neutral in expression as Bucky sat beside you in bed. He pulled you into his arms and you two layed comfortably despite your sudden discomfort. "Like in..."

"Norse mythology." you finished and Bucky looked at you confused. "What, are you a mythology nerd now?"

"Yeah something like that." He looked at you in confusion before kissing the top of your head and standing up. "What do you want me to make for dinner?"

"Actually, I was thinking I would go pick dinner up at this place downtown." You lied yet Bucky nodded and smiled, believing you.

You grasped a small knife from the lining of your boots, twirling it in your hand.

As you walked further down the alleyway you could hear a cry for help. You began a fast paced run and turned a corner to see a young boy being beaten up by a much bigger one. "Hey, get off of him." You commanded and the man turned around shocked.

"Ok, sweetcheeks, what price you paying for me to do that?" You clenched your fists and tried to resist slashing him with the knife pressed tightly in your hand. "Just get outta here."

"Who's telling me to?" Before you could form a coherent response, the man pushed you up against the cold, hard brick wall behind you, making you drop your knife.

"I am." You raised your knee to his lower region and he gasped in pain. He grabbed at your leg, pulling you down with him but you pushed off of the wall behind you and landed a kick in his face. He grunted in pain and you took this as your time to get the younger boy out of the alleyway. "Hey run down there and make a left. It'll take you to a main road." you directed him and he nodded scurrying away.

The man stood up from behind you and tried to swing a punch at you but you dodged it. He uses his height to an advantage and ropes his arm around your neck. You elbow him in the stomach and he screams and falls to the ground after the audible sound of a bone breaking.

"Ma'am, that's enough." A voice calls from the roof of a building above you. The man is clad in red, white and blue and that's when you recognise Captain America. "Bucky." you whispered quietly in realisation that he would be here.

"Valkyrie, we would appreciate if you take off your mask and come with us." You turned to see that the voice belonged to a redhead that you knew well. You'd often gone to visit the Avengers with Bucky and even considered most of them good friends. That could soon change.

You did the first thing that made sense to you. Run. After jabbing Nat in the face you ran a short distance away before you were stopped by Clint Barton firing his arrow at you with great accuracy. You caught it in your hand, inches from your face. Being so shocked, you don't realise Tony Stark lands behind you and rips your mask from your face. You scramble to cover your face but you know you're too late when you hear a voice from behind you.

"(Y/N)?"

"Buck, I can explain."
