You tightened the soft, white duvet around your body, increasing the pressure from the cocoon you had been hiding in for the past few hours. Bucky hadn't gotten home yet, despite the sun arising indicating to you that it was some time in the early hours of the morning. You felt your arm lose the ability to feel after you'd been resting on it without moving for so long yet you made no attempt to move again, feeling as though your had no energy left in your body.

The click of a lock came from down the halls. Bucky must be home.

His steps were especially light as he precariously moved through the living room, setting down his back and avoiding creaky floorboards. You clenched your eyes shut, hearing him approaching the entrance of your shared bedroom. His steps moved throughout the room for a couple of minutes before he settled in bed, making the mattress slump down on his side of the bed. His hand rubbed at your back before he placed a soft kiss to your head, believing you were asleep.

You felt your closed eyes working against the current of the tears welling up in your eyes. You held in a shaky breath as your eyes flicked around under your eyelids. They fluttered open as you turned to Bucky, moving for the first time in hours.

"Doll, I thought you were asleep." You simply unravel the layers of blanket, that were providing your body with warmth, and allow him to slip under them, scooting closer to his body and resting your head on his muscular chest. "Have you been crying?"

You nuzzle your head further into him but he shuffles backwards, using a hand to tilt your chin upwards. His lips parted looking at your glossy eyes and wet cheeks. More tears began to rush down your face upon noticing his reaction. You hurriedly wiped them from your face, feeling your cheeks warm in embarrassment. "What's wrong?"

You shook your head, trying to wordlessly tell Bucky that you didn't want to talk about it but it seemed Bucky wasn't taking no for an answer today. "I don't feel so good," you mumbled, giving in to Bucky's pleas. "In here." You tapped your forehead with your pointer finger making Bucky coo, placing his lips to your forehead.

"What do you need me to do?" He rested his chin on top of your head, speaking in a low whisper. "I just need you to stay with me."

"Forever."

edit: in hindsight, this title was very unfortunate - it seems i was a psychic when it comes to predicting heartbreaking lines from iw...
