Of course you and Bucky were remarkable people who treated everyone with care and politeness but, frankly, that was not what the pair of you were known for. Rather, you two were known for always (and I mean always) talking about the other regardless of the topic of the conversation. Truthfully, neither of you knew you were doing it so often though the rest of your friends teased both of you the entire time you were dating. Unfortunately, now you had been married for a little over a month, it seemed the urge to talk about each other heightened.

"That's so weird, my husband told me that yesterday." Nat and Wanda exchange glances, not knowing how you could make a conversation about weapons turn into one about your day with Bucky. They found it sweet nonetheless. "You guys are so in love it makes me sick," Natasha mocks bitterly, sipping her coffee.

Bucky was certainly the same. He mentioned you at any chance he got. "Oh yeah my wife said something like that" Bucky reminisced, munching on his cereal. Steve and Sam simply exchanged looks wordlessly, catching Bucky's attention. "What? What did I say"

"Same thing you always say, Buck." Steve smiled. Bucky's expression just further morphed into one of confusion. "You never stop talking about your wife, dude. Like seriously, just stop." Sam grumbled, clearly over it.

Bucky scoffed, offended. "Well I love my wife so suck it." Sam and Steve simply rolled their eyes but in the silence, Bucky thought that maybe they were right, maybe you didn't like it either, maybe you hated it? The panic shot up through his body at the thought that he was the only one that had noticed it, that you'd noticed too and you didn't say anything despite hating it.

So from then on Bucky made a conscious effort to stop talking about you, stop calling you his wife. Though, in true Bucky fashion, his reaction was what some may call excessive.

"Hey...dude?" Bucky said the next morning, kissing you on your cheek as he passed. Your forehead crinkled as your expression reflected your increasing confusion. "Did you just...call me...'dude'?"

"Um, yeah, I call you that all the time..." Bucky scratched his head, clearly not hiding his discomfort very well. "Anyway, I need to head out soon bro."

"You did not just-"

"See you man."

And with that Bucky shut the door. You sat there, stunned, for a moment. Where we the pet names? No 'honey', no 'darling', no 'doll' and worst of all no 'wife'. You managed the rest of the day, keeping Bucky's strange behaviour out of your mind but it certainly started to dwell in your thoughts. Maybe he's mad at me, you puzzled. But what for?

Interrupting your thoughts, your phone buzzed, lighting up with a notification. A smile of relief came upon you noting it was Steve. Good old Steve could always cheer you up.

Cap'n
Did something happen between you and Buck?

Okay maybe he couldn't cheer you up this time.

You immediately hit the call button and Steve picked up in seconds. "What do you mean? Why would something have happened? Did he say anything to you?"

"And hello to you too, (Y/N)"

"Steve!"

"Fine! No he didn't say anything actually but that's exactly the problem. He never stops talking about you but today-" Steve pauses and you swear your heart stops as his sentence remains unfinished. "Steve?"

"I think I just figured out what this is about." You wait patiently though you're admittedly confused by Steve's soft chuckles. "So Sam and I were making fun of Bucky for always talking about you and mentioning how you guys were married yesterday. I think this is him trying to stop."

Steve remains giggling as you just sigh, knowing his strange behaviour and this strange situation certainly did add up to be something Bucky would do.

You heart the jingle of keys at your door so you said your quick goodbye's to Steve before sitting up expectantly on the couch, awaiting Bucky's entrance through the door. "Hi bro," you mocked as he entered the living room "How was your day, man?"

Bucky huffed which only made your affectionate smile grow wider. "Come here silly." You gestured for Bucky to come closer but he simply hovered by the couch so you sat up on your knees, meeting him at just below eye level. "I heard you've been getting shit for calling me your wife all the time."

Bucky seemed embarrassed, his cheeks flushing lightly. "It's not that."

"No? Then what?"

"I was afraid if others didn't like hearing it, maybe you didn't like it either." You dip your head, trying to make eye contact with him as his head remains sheepishly facing the ground. "Baby..."

Bucky can't resist moving further into your embrace with the assistance of that pet name. "Buck, I love when you call me your wife more than anyone because it's the happiest decision I've ever made in my life. I don't care if others get sick of it, I want the whole world to know we're married and we're happy to be."

Bucky's smile returned, gentle and adoring as he looked on at you. "Love you, wife"

"Love you, husband"
