xx. NIGHTMARES

(a/n: i liked the previous request of this so much that i made another)

Bucky stirred in his sleep when he heard sounds of exclamation and panic and his eyes shot open when he realised they were not from himself, but you.

"Doll, wake up." Bucky's voice was gentle as he subtly shook you awake. When your eyes shot open they were full of tears which you wiped away quickly and your palms and collarbones practically dripped with sweat.

"Hey, it's ok. C'mere." Bucky took you into his arm and placed his head on top of yours. He brushed his hand through your hair and placed gentle kisses on the top of your head every so often. You tried to recover your breathing as your chest heaved up and down so Bucky rubbed your back with his metal hand to cool you down.

"You want to tell me what happened?" You almost began crying again as Bucky pulled away but held onto your shoulders to ask you the question yet upon seeing your emotions he pulled you back into his chest.

"It was b-bad, Buck." you breathed quickly and Bucky rocked you gently to calm you down. "I know, doll, I know."

"H-HYDRA got you and I was s-so scared." you hiccuped and Bucky pulled away from your embrace again. He slung his human hand onto your waist and gently laid you down so you were in a comfortable sleeping position as he cuddled you from behind. "Good thing I'm as badass as you think I am because I won't let that happen."

You chuckle through a few tears and you could feel Bucky's proud smile as he kissed your temple. "You wanna go back to sleep?"

"Yes please, Buck."

"Ok, doll." You felt Bucky about to release you as you typically couldn't get to sleep like that but you stopped his arm and placed it back on your waist.

"Could you keep holding me, please?"

"I love you, doll."

"I love you, Buck."
