[a/n: i bet these frequent updates have you shook - i'll try to keep it up]

You and Bucky weren't exactly the best of friends. When he'd first arrived at the Avengers facility, you tried your best to be kind but after he responded to barely anything you'd say to him, you got the feeling he didn't like you too much. Steve insisted that it had been a long time since he'd spoken to a girl which is why he avoided the situation completely. Natasha said that he probably had a crush on you and Sam said that he was simply not someone you'd want to talk to anyway. Not that you believed any of those statements.

This 'turbulent' relationship so to speak is what made Bucky's sudden reflection of compassion to you, on one of your worst days, so interesting.

You sat in front of your best friend's grave, staring blankly at the name engraved on the cold surface. You placed down the flowers that were clenched in your hand and moved to lay down beside the grave. As if you were laying next to them, like you used to, looking at the stars.

"I'm really sorry." A masculine voice came from further away. You sat up to see Bucky standing a few feet away from you with an identical bunch of flowers in his hands. "I didn't know whether to come or not but I wanted to see how you were doing."

Bucky sets the flowers down and bends his body uncomfortably to sit beside you. You send him a small smile, pleased with his efforts. "I wish I wasn't an Avenger sometimes. This all happened because there's people out to get us. Sometimes they hurt the people closest to us." you finish, glancing back towards the grave.

You wipe a few stray tears from your cheeks and divert your eyes from Bucky, whose gaze is still lingering on you. You turn to Bucky yet he does not shift his stare.

"I can imagine how it hurt. It's strange because I remember Steve but I feel completely detached from all those memories."

This time you stare at Bucky in curiousity.  "Aren't we a bunch of freaks?" you question with humour laced in your voice and Bucky laughs a real laugh. You don't think you've ever heard that laugh before. You like it, though.

"You're gonna be okay." Bucky says and, to your surprise, he slings his arms around your torso and nuzzles you into his chest. You find it surprisingly comfortable and you look up at him.

"You're going to be okay too, Buck."
