~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~"Your brothers, mother, and I will be out for tonight. A peace treaty with another kingdom. You are to stay here."
"Why can I not go along? I am the future king."
"You'll practically be running the kingdom for a night. Think of it as some more training."
Like I needed even more training.
I nodded and father left my room. I sighed and looked around bored. I would be swamped with work if father was leaving, and even more seeing as how mother and Zane and Vylad were leaving with him. It seemed highly irresponsible, to leave the kingdom to me for the night. I did betray the kingdom once, technically twice, and now I was joined in a team with rebels to betray it once again.
What a shame, I had always thought that my father was smarter than that.
"Garroth? Can I come in?" Vylad's voice came muffled through the door. I nodded, even though he couldn't see, and walked over to open the dark wood. Vylad stepped in and started to look around. "Strange, I've never been in your room."
"What do you need?"
"Oh, right," he focused back on me, "the family is going to a party in the nether realm. You're going to be disguising yourself as me, and I'm going to hold down the kingdom while you go see Aphmau."
"W-what?!" That was a lot of information to take in at one moment, but the idea of seeing Aphmau had made me excited.
"It would be easy to pretend to be me, keep silent and you're good."
"Um...what about the looks?"
"I had Dante create this," he tossed me a pendent. I looked at it curiously.
"What is it?" Vylad rolled his eyes and started to massage his temples out of annoyance.
"Dante specialises in illusion magic, if you wear this it'll make you look like me," he explained. I nodded and put it on, looking in the mirror and gasping at what I was looking at. It was as if I had transfered bodies.
"Amazing."
"And I have one that makes me look like you."
I turned around and jumped a little at Vylad, his cocoa brown hair was now a sandy blonde.
"Son, we're about to leave s- oh good, Vylad you're here," father walked in and plastered on a fake smile.
"You're leaving?" Vylad coughed out.
"Yes, now we should be home late tonight or early tomorrow, goodnight Garroth. Vylad, let's go."
I nodded and followed my father, sending a sly thumbs up to my younger brother who I had just learned was a genius and was far smarter than me. Once we left the room, father dropped the smile and straightened out his clothes.
"That boy better not burn down the kingdom," he sighed. I nodded, even though I was internally screaming at him. We walked with the rest of our family down halls and stairs until we reached a portal.
My hands were freezing despite the nether that was literally on fire. I couldn't help it, I was nervous and excited to see Aphmau. We walked down a hallway, and into a large room. I immediately started searching for Aphmau. But I couldn't find her in the sea of demons and monsters.
"Garte, so nice of you to come," the Shadow Lord walked over and shook hands with father, "looking lovely as ever, Zianna. You look strapping as always, Zane."
When his gaze landed on me, he rose an amused brow.
"You remember Vylad," father patted my back.
"Ah yes, Vylad," he chuckled a little, "how would you like to have a dance with my daughter, she is the reason for this party."
I inhaled and nodded once, going into the crowd and ignored my father's surprised gaze. I stopped in my tracks when I noticed the only somewhat human female in the room other than my mother. Her long black hair was pinned into a tight bun, and her dark purple dress kissed the floor. I tapped her burning shoulder, and as she turned I noticed odd scars on her bare arms. When our eyes met she looked a little shocked.
"Vylad?"
I chuckled a little and placed a hand on her waist. and held the her hand with my free one.
"You wish."
She was oddly hot, but at my touch she seemed to cool down. I pulled her onto the dance floor and started to move swiftly to the sounds of the music.
"What do you mean I wish?" She rose a brow.
"Vylad and I may have switched spots for the night," I shrugged. Her eyes widened and she blushed a little.
"It's not...Garroth, is it?"
I grinned evilly and turned her.
"Garroth?" Her eyes watered a little as she grinned. I nodded and she immediately closed the space between us, our bodies pressed together.
"I missed you," I hummed in her ear.
"You have no idea," she whispered.
"What are those scars on your arms?" Suddenly my smile was gone, but I didn't stop the dancing.
"It's from shadow magic," her voice went monotone as she explained, "my father says I have to know it in order to take the thrown."
"I'm going to get you out of here, trust me."
"My father is planning on an attack on O'Khasis, I'm not sure when, but it has to be soon. That's when I'm going to try and break free, but for now I want you to be aware."
"I wish this moment could last forever..." I sighed and paid attention to little things. Her quickened heart rate against my chest, her oddly cold hands, her porcelain skin smooth in my hand. Her wings letting off an ashy burning smell. One that I had learned to love.
"Never leave me," she begged.
"I wish I never did, I'm an idiot for trusting in my father, you were right, he was manipulating me."
"I'm always right," she laughed through a watery voice.
"You bet."
A/N Cutting it off there, wow, that was the quickest I've written a chapter in awhile. So, why is it that with anyone else Aphmau burns them, but with Garroth she cools down? Just a little fun thingy I added last minute. I love you all devils, byeeeeeee.
