She was the prettiest hell I have ever been in;
I didn't mind burning at all.

(Garroth's POV)

The sun shone brightly.

It was a beautiful day, and the world seemed to be at peace. I felt alive again.

I looked to the beautiful angel that slept peacefully on her bed. Aphmau was bandaged and resting. When KC had began fixing her up after the battle, she had fallen asleep. That was a few days ago, and she was still dozing gently. I didn't worry, because she needed it. Who knew what kind of hell she had gone through to get to where she was.

I looked out the window and smiled. The large green fields, and the tall forests were in view from the small cottage, and reconstruction had begun in O'Khasis from the two thousand five hundred and twenty one survivors. We were sadly not able to save them all, and the survivors that were working were the healthy ones, hundreds were still wounded and under the care of the few healers that we could have. But at least some people lived.

I stepped outside, deciding to walk down to the small camp that was set up to help the wounded. It wasn't far from the cottage, and KC was on her way up to take care of Aphmau anyway, so I wasn't completely worried. She would be safe.

Travis and Dante were cutting some wood to help with building. Nicole was sorting through some supplies with Laurance, and Katelyn was tending to some bandages of one of the patients.

Everything was calm.

Even though there was still suffering flitting through the air, it wasn't thick. People laughed and celebrated the victory. If it wasn't for Aph, then everyone would probably be dead.

"Garroth~Sama!" I heard KC yell, I turned quickly. If she was yelling she was probably panicked, which meant something was probably wrong. I hurried to the house and stood in the doorway.

"What is it?! What's wrong?!"

"Nothing," I heard the melodious voice of Aphmau call. I grinned like a moron and rushed past KC. Aphmau sat up, freshly bandaged, and nibbling on some bread. I hurried to her side and sat next to her.

"You're awake!"

"Yup," she giggled. Irene, how I missed her laugh. "KC explained everything that happened."

"You're a hero," I whispered. She blushed a little and tucked some raven hair behind her ear.

"I didn't do all that much." I stared at her and rolled my eyes.

"You have got to be kidding me, you saved everyone's butts." She smiled gently and munched happily on her bread. I pecked her nose. "I love you."

"I love you, too."

"What was that spell anyway? It seemed intense, and oddly specific."

"Um...it was pretty forbidden. Irene had taught it to me when i was really young, and it only cost all my darkness." I stopped everything. Breathing even.

"It cost all your darkness? Isn't that good?"

"The spell was to get rid of the darkness that was threatening the good and innocent. My wings, and most of my powers, were resonating from darkness, so I lost it all. I'm....I'm human now." She took a deep breath. It was something she had wanted, but to lose her wings and powers? Those were things she held close to her heart. She loved to fly, she said it had brought her freedom.

I wrapped my arms around her soothingly, rubbing her back. She returned the hug, but she was more gleeful.

"I'm sorry about you losing-"

"Garroth, I can finally die at peace," she giggled. I froze.

"What do you mean?"

"Well not, like, right now obviously. But when I die it can be of old age. I can have kids because time will effect me now. I couldn't be happier." She pulled away and grinned at me. But something felt sad in my heart. She wanted kids, but could she start a family with me? If I was still immortal, she would age, but I wouldn't. I would be sitting there, watching as my family grew old, had their own families, died. It would be too painful. "Garroth, there's something I have to tell you, and I don't know how you'll take it."

"Okay." I sat straighter, holding her hands in mine. She kept eye contact, though it seemed to make her uneasy.

"I think you're human now too."

"What makes you think...." I trailed off.

"I got rid of the threat of darkness temporarily, your power came from my father, so that would mean your power would be gone too." I smiled and let out a breath of relief. "KC ran some tests and she just went out to see the results now."

"When did she...?"

"When I was still conscious I told her to check if you and I were both still immortal. So when she was healing you she did all of those things without you really realising it."

"What else are you gonna tell me?" I joked. It was a major dump of information and it was really quite a bit to take in.

"Nothing else," she grinned. She leaned against me and went back to eating her meal. We sat in comfortable silence with each other for a little while.

"Are you sore?"

"Very," she breathed out. I chuckled and kissed the top of her head. She was resting her head on my shoulder, and she kept her eyes closed. We listened to the gentle sounds of the birds chirping.

Safe.

A/N So you can probably all feel the ending coming. I'm trying to use up all the quotes I had in bulk, so I might just do a chapter of like, Travis and Katelyn, and then maybe something on Garte and Zianna, if they lived. Not entirely sure yet. I love you all, byeee.
