Child of light
Daughter of darkness
Take heed my beckon call
Bring forth your sorrow
And cast out your shame
Look upon your shadow
Lay barren on the wall
Hear the whispers of the midnight hour
And taste the crimson sector, so sweet, never sour.
Embrace the which you hold so dear
Even though to many, it may bring fear
Spread out your wings, and soon take flight
For this, my darling, is your rightful night.

"You lied to me."

I went into my father's office, furious.

"About what?" He looked up from his work, confused.

"Where did the guards bring Aphmau?"

"To where they got her, I'm not sure I didn't accompany them."

"You brought her to her father in the nether, didn't you?"

"I don't know what you're talking about."

"Don't lie to me, why else would you destroy the nether portal?"

"I destroyed that portal because I didn't want any more contact after the Shadow Lord stripped me of my immortality."

"If he took away you're immortality, then why do you still look fifty?"

"I cannot explain to you the very thing that I do not understand."

He had an alibi, but he had to be lying. Why would he want a good relationship? He didn't want one before our powers, he didn't want one during, and he sure as hell wouldn't want one after.

"You have to be lying."

"What makes you say that?"

And just like that, he had me cornered. What could I say? That my brother, another traitor, told me she hadn't returned to the rebel camp? I couldn't sell out Vylad, that was wrong, that was very wrong. That would just create even more of a mess.

"I just thought that you would throw her in the portal and then destroy it..."

"Are you saying she's missing?" He masked his smirk with false concern as he stood.

"I went looking for her, and couldn't find her."

I could play my own lying game and I wasn't going to let him win.

"Well grab anyone you wish and go searching for her."

My eyes widened a little and I blinked in surprise. He was going to let me go and see if I could find her?

I nodded and stepped outside.

Now I wasn't going to leave. I was smarter than that. There was no real point in going to look, if she hadn't returned to the camp, she wasn't anywhere where I could find her. Also, if I left, I had a feeling that Father would send someone to follow me, and the first place I would look would be the camp, so I wasn't going to sell everyone else out.

Man, I was in a standby.

(Aphmau's POV)

I smiled softly at Aaron as he sat down in front of me.

"You found me."

Aaron was a slave. Yet sometimes he had a little free time, and over a long time, we became friends.

"I shouldn't be able to find you here, not in this realm. What are you even doing here?"

"It's a....really long story."

"By the way, the guy you brought awhile back, a real catch."

"Oh shut up," I laughed. He was being sarcastic.

"He seemed very......wimpy."

"He's not that wimpy, but everyone from the over world is a big baby when it comes to my father."

"Very true, so I couldn't help but hear that you loved him?"

"Yup, still do. He ruined his whole life so I wasn't a prisoner," I sighed with a sad smile.

"Yeah? So why are you here?"

"My father made a deal with his father. Basically they traded me."

"Ah, well if it means anything, I'm glad I got to see you again."

"Likewise."

I looked around. Aaron was like a little piece of home in the nether. He was one of the only people here that hadn't killed anyone.

Funny, whenever I mentioned that he would get super silent and then even a little depressed, and soon leave. It made me think that he had killed someone, but then that seemed ridiculous, so I dismissed the thought.

"I should go, a slave's work is never done," he smiled and walked away. I laid down and looked at the painted on sun and sighed sadly.

I was already missing everyone like crazy, and all my old escape plans had been ruined. My Father had fixed everything, so I could never just leave again.

But I had to find another way out.

I just had to.

I couldn't sleep that night. So out of curiosity, I lit an oil lamp.

I sat on the middle of the floor, looking it the light. Slowly, I moved the flame. I made it bigger, smaller, twisted it and flattened it. And then I let go of the flame and bit my lip. I placed my hands in front of the light, and concentrated on collecting the shadows casted on my hand.

But it was a foolish mistake, I lost control and the shadow slid up my arm and caused far too much pain. I let it go as quickly as possible and gathered the sweat off my forehead, cooled it down, and placed it over the new scar that would be formed. I let silent tears fall down  my cheeks.

I don't know why I did it, it was foolish and idiotic.

But I couldn't help it.

I was curious.

A/N This one's about 100 words off what they normally are, but I can't say anything else in this chapter without spoiling. I love you all devils, byeeeeeee.
